Job description
About this role
About The Role
The role owns the product lifecycle for a core platform: translating business goals into a technical roadmap, then driving execution with engineering through discovery, prioritization, and launch. This is a hands-on PM role for someone comfortable sitting in architecture reviews in the morning and presenting metrics to leadership in the afternoon.
You will work directly with engineering leads, designers, and go-to-market teams to ship products where technical depth matters - API design tradeoffs, data infrastructure constraints, and integration complexity are all part of the daily conversation.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and evolve the product roadmap for a core platform area, sequencing initiatives against engineering capacity, technical dependencies, and business impact
- Write clear product requirements documents (PRDs) and specs that engineers can execute from without ambiguity - including API contracts, data models, and edge-case behavior
- Drive discovery through customer interviews, competitive analysis, and usage data analysis in tools like Amplitude or Mixpanel to validate problems before committing resources
- Manage sprint-level execution: backlog grooming, story acceptance, scope negotiation, and unblocking engineers during implementation
- Define and track success metrics post-launch; run A/B tests and present results with recommendations to senior leadership
- Coordinate cross-functionally with design, sales, and support to ensure launches land with enablement, documentation, and pricing in place
- Serve as the escalation point for roadmap conflicts and make defensible prioritization calls using frameworks like RICE or weighted scoring
What We Are Looking For
- 3-6 years of product management experience, including at least 2 years working on technical products (developer tools, data platforms, infrastructure, or API-based products)
- Demonstrated ability to write high-quality specs and PRDs; comfort discussing technical concepts like REST APIs, event schemas, and system latency with engineers
- Hands-on experience with SQL and product analytics tools (Amplitude, Mixpanel, Looker, or similar) - able to pull own data rather than waiting on analysts
- Track record of shipping products through full lifecycle: discovery, build, launch, and iteration on measurable outcomes
- Strong prioritization and stakeholder management skills; experience saying no with a clear rationale
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience in software or engineering-adjacent roles
- Bonus: experience at a venture-backed startup or high-growth scale-up, familiarity with agile tooling (Jira, Linear), or an MBA with a technical undergraduate degree
