About this role

About The Role

The role owns native mobile development across iOS and Android, building and maintaining the customer-facing apps used by hundreds of thousands of daily active users. This means hands-on work with Swift/Kotlin (or a shared codebase), offline-first data sync, push notifications, deep linking, and the release engineering that keeps app store reviews high and crash rates low.

Mobile is the primary surface where the product's reputation lives. The engineer in this role will ship features on a two-week cadence, own performance and stability metrics end-to-end, and work directly with product, design, and backend teams to turn ambiguous requirements into polished, reliable releases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and ship features natively in Swift/SwiftUI and Kotlin/Jetpack Compose, or in a shared codebase (Kotlin Multiplatform / React Native) depending on team allocation
  • Own app architecture decisions: module boundaries, state management patterns (MVVM, MVI), and navigation across complex multi-screen flows
  • Integrate with backend REST and GraphQL APIs, handling authentication, pagination, caching, and real-time updates via WebSockets
  • Instrument and own mobile quality metrics: crash-free session rate, ANRs, cold-start time, and Core Web Vitals equivalents, using Firebase Crashlytics, Sentry, or Datadog RUM
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for mobile using Fastlane, Xcode Cloud, or GitHub Actions, including automated testing, code signing, and staged rollouts
  • Collaborate with designers to implement pixel-accurate, accessible UI and contribute to the shared design system across platforms
  • Participate in code reviews, mentor mid-level engineers, and drive postmortems and remediation for production incidents

What We Are Looking For

  • 3–6 years of professional mobile engineering experience, with at least 2 years shipping production apps to the App Store and/or Google Play
  • Deep proficiency in at least one native stack: Swift/SwiftUI or Kotlin/Jetpack Compose, with working knowledge of the other
  • Experience with offline data persistence (Room, CoreData, SQLDelight) and sync conflict resolution strategies
  • Strong grasp of mobile networking: REST, GraphQL, gRPC, token refresh flows, and retry/backoff patterns
  • Track record of owning releases: versioning strategy, phased rollouts, feature flags (LaunchDarkly, Firebase Remote Config), and hotfix turnaround
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
  • Bonus: experience with Kotlin Multiplatform or React Native in production, mobile test automation (XCUITest, Espresso, Detox), or contributing to open-source mobile libraries
