Job description
About this role
Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant for Urgent Care
FQHC / Community Health Center
If you like the pace and variety of urgent care but want your work to mean more, this is it. I’m working with a well-established nonprofit community health center in Boston that runs a walk-in urgent care clinic for its community. They’re adding an NP or PA to the team.
You’ll be a self-directed provider seeing a wide range of acute cases. You’ll also be part of a full health center, so you can connect patients to primary care, behavioral health, and social services instead of just treating and releasing them.
Why this one stands out
- Real autonomy. You’ll be a self-directed provider with Medical Director support.
- Malpractice coverage. It’s covered through the center’s federal (FTCA) coverage.
- Whole-patient care. You can link patients to on-site primary care, behavioral health, pharmacy, and social services.
- Mission-driven work. You’ll serve a diverse, underserved urban community where no one is turned away for inability to pay.
- Teaching and growth. There’s an accredited advanced practice residency program, chances to precept students, and close ties to a major Boston academic medical center.
What you’ll do
- See walk-in urgent care patients across a wide range of acute needs
- Take detailed histories, perform exams, and order and interpret labs and diagnostics
- Make clinical decisions, refer, and connect patients to community resources
- Link new patients to ongoing primary care at the health center
- Serve as a clinical resource and educator for staff
What you need
- Graduate of an accredited NP or PA program
- NPs: MSN, active Massachusetts RN and NP license with prescriptive authority, and board certification
- PAs: NCCPA certification and an active Massachusetts PA license
- 1+ years of NP or PA experience (urgent care, ER, or primary care ideal)
- Bilingual in Spanish and/or Haitian Creole is preferred
Benefits
- Medical and dental coverage
- 403(b) retirement plan
- Employer-paid life, AD&D, and long-term disability insurance
- Vacation, holiday, personal, and sick time
- Health and dependent care FSAs
- Tuition reimbursement and educational assistance
- Commuter benefits
Pay: $125,000.00 - $168,000.00 per year
Benefits:
- 401(k)
- Dental insurance
- Flexible schedule
- Health insurance
- Life insurance
- Paid time off
- Tuition reimbursement
