About this role
Seeking a dedicated part-time (18-22 hours per week) school-based occupational therapist with an active California state OT license. This position entails remote supervision of a Certified Occupational Therapist (COTA), administration of standardized and non-standardized assessments, participation in the IEP process, and regular contribution to the school's Multi-Tiered System of Support for at-risk students.
The Occupational Therapist will support the COTA in implementing functional treatment plans with students that address fine motor coordination deficits, self regulation for modulation of sensory input in the classroom and during transitions, handwriting and typing skills, visual motor and visual perceptual skills, and the development of other educationally-related motor and perceptual skills.
The school-based occupational therapist should support the COTA in tailoring treatment sessions to students’ specific IEP goals and their day-to-day needs for support in the classroom based on evidence-based practice (EBP).
The school-based OT will use evidence-based assessments and decision-making processes, collaborate with parents and staff, develop data driven, educationally-related goals for students, prepare clear, detailed written assessment reports, and present at IEP meetings in a collaborative, informative, and empathetic manner.
Therapists should provide best practice treatment strategies for every student to enhance the effectiveness of interventions. BTG emphasizes a cohesive team approach together with parents and caregivers, school administrators, teachers, and other therapists.
