Job description

About this role

Seeking a Full Time dedicated occupational therapist (OT) to join a strong team of therapists in an excellent school district in Temecula!

The OT will develop functional treatment plans for students that address fine motor coordination deficits, self regulatory skills for modulation in the classroom and during transitions, handwriting and typing skills, visual motor and visual perceptual skills, and the development of other educationally-related motor and perceptual skills. Please note that Bridge the Gap SpEd offers a 401K plan with a generous employer match.

The school-based occupational therapist should tailor treatment sessions to students’ specific IEP goals and their day-to-day needs for support in the classroom based on evidence-based practice (EBP). He or she should be comfortable with the use of standardized assessments used in schools and the IEP process. The OT will be required to collaborate closely with staff members involved in their students' educational program.

He or she will report to parents, service providers, and other members of the IEP team in meetings while reviewing assessments, current level of function and progress, and data driven, educationally-related goals for students.

Therapists should provide best practice treatment strategies for every student to enhance the effectiveness of interventions. We use a team approach together with parents and caregivers, school administrators, teachers, and other therapists.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assess needs of students with disabilities, including those with autism, ADHD, developmental delay, and other types of learning and physical disabilities using standardized and non-standardized student assessment methods
  • Develop and implement data-driven goals and individualized treatment plans
  • Collaborate with educators and parents to facilitate intervention strategies in students' educational environment
  • Maintain clear and accurate documentation of sessions and progress, and communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
  • Utilize knowledge of sensory processing, fine and visual motor skills, balance and coordination, and executive functioning to guide therapeutic interventions
  • Communicate effectively with parents in an empathetic and clear manner.
