About this role
Mobilization Registered Nurse
Build the nursing side of every new clinic
As a Mobilization Registered Nurse (RN) on Alert Rescue’s Corporate Mobilization Team, you will build the nursing side of each new clinic and train local RNs to run it, covering triage, the medication room, point-of-care testing, vaccines, and occupational health testing. You will be based at our Texas corporate office and travel to project sites up to 30% of the time. Our first deployment is a new clinic in Colorado.
What you’ll do
When deployed, you will perform all duties of the site RN role, along with the shared mobilization duties and the following.
Clinic set-up
- Set up the medication room, emergency cart, and vaccine storage with temperature logs.
- Set up the point-of-care testing area and its quality control logs.
Training and precepting
- Teach local RNs Emergency Severity Index (ESI) version 5 triage, recognition of hidden emergencies, intravenous (IV) starts, 12-lead electrocardiogram (ECG) acquisition, and the clinic emergency response.
- Teach point-of-care testing and quality control, including i-STAT CHEM8+ blood chemistry cartridges, urine dipstick, urine human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) pregnancy tests, and glucose testing.
- Teach occupational health intake, including respirator questionnaires. Teach spirometry (lung function testing) or audiometry (hearing testing) only if you hold the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) spirometry certificate or the Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation (CAOHC) audiometry certificate.
- Teach Colorado delegation limits and suicide screening, and teach the emergency mental health hold steps with the Mental Health Clinician.
- Help the Director of Nursing (DON) build the nursing written test and practical checklists.
Scope of practice
You will work only within your license or certification in the state where care is given, and within your written Alert Rescue authorization. This role does not:
- Make independent medical diagnoses, prescribe, or make work-status or return-to-work decisions.
- Hand out dispensed medications; only the prescribing Nurse Practitioner (NP) or physician personally dispenses.
- Teach spirometry or audiometry without holding the course certificate; each local RN needs their own certificate before testing workers.
- Act as an intervening professional for emergency mental health holds without the Colorado training the rule requires.
What you’ll bring
- Current Texas RN multistate license, with Texas as your primary state of residence.
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications, and AHA BLS Instructor certification within six months of hire.
- 5+ years of RN experience; including 2 in emergency, urgent care, or occupational health.
- Ability to travel up to 30% of the year, with overnight stays; deployments usually 2 to 8 weeks
Preferred
- Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) or Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification; AHA ACLS Instructor certification.
- NIOSH-approved spirometry certificate; CAOHC audiometry certification; Department of Transportation (DOT) collector and breath alcohol technician training.
- Colorado Behavioral Health Administration-recognized training for emergency mental health holds.
- Charge nurse, preceptor, or nurse educator experience.
