At RTX, the world's largest aerospace and defense company, 185,000 great minds are united by purpose and inspired to make a difference solving the world’s most complex problems. With our three market leading businesses, world-class operations and investments in research and development, we offer capabilities and opportunity no one else can.

Together, we push the boundaries of known science and find new ways to connect and protect our world.

Raytheon brings the strength of more than 100 years of experience and renowned engineering expertise to meet the needs of today’s mission and stay ahead of tomorrow’s threat. We deliver solutions that help our nation and allies defend freedoms and deter aggression, creating a safer, more secure world. Join us and help shape the future of aerospace and defense.

Join Systems Engineering and Test Capabilities (SE&TC), a cross-disciplinary engineering team solving complex systems challenges across some of Raytheon’s most advanced guided, autonomous and sensor-integrated technologies.

If you’ve engineered complex vehicles, robotics platforms, automated machinery, aerospace systems or embedded technologies, many of the systems engineering skills you’ve developed can translate directly to this work.

Based in Tucson, Arizona, SE&TC supports technologies spanning the seabed to space, including ship-launched systems such as Standard Missile® and Tomahawk®, surface-launched systems including Javelin® and Coyote®, air-launched systems such as AMRAAM® and StormBreaker®, and emerging technologies including hypersonics and space solutions.

As a Systems Engineer, you’ll apply that experience across the full Systems Engineering V lifecycle, shaping architecture, requirements, integration and verification for complex systems that must perform reliably under demanding conditions. You’ll collaborate across software, hardware, modeling, controls, navigation, sensors and test to bring these systems from concept through field performance.

In this role, that experience could translate to work including:

  • Developing and managing system and subsystem requirements across hardware and software.
  • Defining system architectures and interfaces using MBSE tools such as Cameo.
  • Guiding system-level integration across hardware, software, controls and embedded technologies.
  • Leading verification and validation activities to ensure system requirements are fully assessed.
  • Conducting trade studies and translating findings into data-driven engineering recommendations.
  • Troubleshooting complex system issues and supporting failure investigations.
  • Providing technical leadership, mentoring engineers and strengthening collaboration across disciplines.

This role is 100% on-site at our Tucson, AZ campus with the possibility of occasional travel.

What You Will Do

  • Systems Architecture & Requirements

o Develop, maintain and improve system and subsystem requirements for hardware and software elements of complex guided and autonomous systems.

o Create system architectures, interface definitions and design documentation using MBSE tools such as Cameo in collaboration with multidisciplinary product teams and subject matter experts.

o Lead updates to system and subsystem requirements specifications, ensuring traceability to verification objectives.

  • Integration & Verification

o Guide system-level integration, hardware/software alignment and cross-team collaboration throughout development and production.

o Plan and execute verification and validation strategies, ensuring requirements are accurately assessed during qualification testing.

o Conduct trade studies, present findings to technical leadership and customers, and help drive design decisions.

o Support troubleshooting, failure analysis and performance evaluation across multiple system elements.

o Support test equipment software integration and verification.

o Support system performance analysis.

  • Collaboration & Technical Leadership

o Work closely with systems, software, hardware, configurable logic, sensor and test engineering teams to resolve system issues and align development priorities.

o Engage in technical discussions with customers throughout the engineering lifecycle.

o Partner with suppliers and Supply Chain teams as the Responsible Engineering Authority (REA) for applicable procured components and assemblies.

o Lead Systems Verification Reviews with the Chief Engineer, Lead Systems Engineer and Integrated Product Team leadership.

o Mentor engineers, facilitate cross-team knowledge transfer and support onboarding using core Systems Engineering practices.

o Conduct and participate in peer reviews, formal documentation releases and Technical Data Package (TDP) updates.

  • Additional Technical Responsibilities

o Support Statistical Process Control assessments and hardware verification activities across missile sections, launch platforms and higher-level assemblies.

o Contribute technical expertise throughout development, integration, production, troubleshooting and system maintenance.

o Serve as a system-level technical resource for the program, building knowledge across requirements, architecture, integration and verification.
