As a Software Engineer II, you will independently use appropriate artificial intelligence tools and practice across the software development lifecycle. You will work with appropriate internal stakeholders to understand customer/user requirements for a set of features. You will create a clear test strategy that ensures solution quality, executes test plans, and builds testable code.

You will strive for automation within production deployment aiming for zero-touch when possible. You will apply and review coding patterns, security risks, and compliance issues in code reviews. You will apply security best practices to achieve security hardening across product features.

Responsibilities

  • Uses appropriate artificial intelligence (AI) tools and practices across the software development lifecycle (SDLC) in a disciplined manner. Take responsibility for the content of their AI-generated changes to artifacts, reviewing all changes and applying appropriate tooling and processes with minimal guidance.
  • Design, develop, deploy, and operate scalable cloud-based data, analytics, automation and tooling solutions using modern data platforms and Cloud services.
  • Strong foundation of Data Structures, algorithms and Programming capabilities that can be applied to solve complex problems thereby helping with the building of solutions with strong foundations and high-quality delivery.
  • Integrate AI capabilities such as Azure OpenAI, Cognitive Services, and ML models to enhance system intelligence and user productivity.
  • Apply engineering best practices as you design and deliver high-quality, scalable solutions. Own your solution end to end through design, implementation, and operations.
  • Implement robust monitoring, logging, and alerting for proactive issue detection. Leverage telemetry and usage analytics to understand customer behavior and inform product decisions.
  • Support and influence the team culture, customer-centricity, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide technical feedback to our product engineering partners to evolve and mature our AI, Azure services and Power Platform.
  • Collaborate cross functionally across stakeholders, product managers and other engineers to deliver integrated, customer-focused experiences.
  • Leverage AI to auto-generate boilerplate code for data pipelines, SQL transformations, and Spark jobs, significantly reducing development time for repetitive tasks.
  • Use AI to enforce consistent coding patterns across ETL scripts and data model definitions, improving maintainability and reducing review cycles.
  • Utilize AI to quickly prototype new data engineering solutions including partitioning strategies, and schema evolution logic, enabling faster experimentation and learning.
  • Employ AI to assist in writing docstrings, inline comments, and unit tests for data processing functions, improving code readability and test coverage.
  • Share GitHub Copilot-generated snippets and best practices with the team, fostering a culture of AI-assisted development and continuous improvement

Qualifications

Required/minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.

Additional or preferred qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 3+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 5+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.

Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U. S. is USD $102,100 - $202,200 per year.

There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $133,800 - $219,200 per year.
