What You'll Do
- Lead a small team of 2-3 software developers by assigning daily priorities, reviewing work products, providing technical guidance, and ensuring projects remain on schedule
- Design, develop, and maintain software applications supporting engineering, aerospace, and federal technology programs
- Serve as a technical lead while remaining actively involved in software development and hands-on coding
- Architect and implement scalable cloud-based solutions, with a focus on AWS services and cloud-native application design
- Develop front-end interfaces, APIs, backend services, databases, and cloud infrastructure
- Collaborate with engineers, analysts, project managers, and customers to translate requirements into effective technical solutions
- Lead software design, architecture reviews, code reviews, and technology selection activities
- Mentor junior developers and promote software engineering best practices across the team
- Improve application performance, reliability, security, maintainability, and usability
- Support Agile development processes, sprint planning, task management, testing, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD)
What You Need
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field
- 6-15 years of professional software development experience
- Experience developing production-quality software applications
- Experience with object-oriented software development
- Experience working with databases, APIs, and modern development tools
- Ability to quickly learn new technologies and technical domains
- U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident status is required.
Preferred Skills
- Strong experience with Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, C#, Java, C++, or similar languages
- Experience with React, Node.js, and modern web application frameworks
- Experience designing and deploying cloud-based applications and services
- Strong experience with AWS services such as EC2, Lambda, ECS/EKS, S3, RDS, CloudFormation, and related technologies
- Familiarity with Azure and multi-cloud environments
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and DevOps workflows
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code technologies such as Terraform or CloudFormation
- Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies including Docker and Kubernetes
- Experience with databases, APIs, distributed systems, and data-driven applications
- Experience conducting code reviews and mentoring software developers
- Familiarity with Linux/Unix development and deployment environments
- Experience developing analytical, visualization, scientific, or technical software tools
