Tax Return Preparer / Accountant

Job Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Accountant/Tax Return Preparer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and financial services, with the ability to provide exceptional customer service while preparing various tax returns for individuals and businesses.

This role is crucial during tax season, requiring accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently under deadlines. Must be proficient in understanding and compiling balance sheets and P&L's.

Responsibilities

• Complete accounting cycle - -including data gathering and preparation of financial statements
• Prepare and review federal and state tax returns for individuals, corporations, not-for-profit organizations, trusts and estates
• Knowledge of federal and state payroll tax returns
• Interview clients and gather financial information
• Advise clients on tax-saving strategies and deductions
• Ensure compliance with current tax laws and regulations
• Perform research on technical tax issues
• Review financial records for accuracy and completeness
• Respond to taxing authority notices
• Stay updated on current tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance.
• Collaborate with team members to streamline processes and improve efficiency during peak seasons.
• Maintain confidentiality of all client records

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting
• Minimum 2 years of tax preparation experience
• Public accounting experience
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Products and Quickbooks
• Experience with UltraTaxCS
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
