We’re looking for a Senior Business Analyst to support business and technology change for an oil and gas client. You’ll work with commercial, operational and technology teams to understand how the business works today, identify where processes or systems need to change, and turn those findings into clear requirements that delivery teams can work from.
This is a hands-on role covering the full delivery lifecycle, from discovery and process mapping through to solution design, user acceptance testing and implementation. Experience in biofuels is welcome, and candidates with broader oil and gas or energy sector experience are encouraged to apply.
Key responsibilities
- Lead discovery workshops and stakeholder interviews to clarify business objectives, define scope and agree priorities.
- Map current and future processes, documenting handovers, business rules, controls and data flows across teams and systems.
- Translate business needs into functional and non-functional requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria.
- Work with subject matter experts, architects, developers and testers to evaluate solution options, clarify requirements and assess the impact of proposed changes.
- Identify risks, dependencies and gaps in processes, data or systems. Work with stakeholders to agree how to address them.
- Support user acceptance testing by defining scenarios, coordinating business input and helping resolve defects before release.
- Maintain traceability from business requirements through to testing and sign-off, keeping stakeholders informed of decisions and outstanding issues.
Essential skills and experience :
- Stakeholder engagement. Proven ability to build relationships with senior sponsors, operational teams and technical delivery teams. Confident facilitating workshops, reconciling competing priorities and securing agreement on requirements and decisions throughout delivery.
- Proven experience as a Senior Business Analyst delivering business process, data or systems change from discovery through to implementation.
- Experience in oil and gas or the wider energy sector, with an understanding of commercial or operational workflows.
- Hands-on experience with process mapping, requirements elicitation, gap analysis and impact assessment.
- Ability to work independently and bring structure to ambiguous requirements.
Desirable experience
- Exposure to biofuels, renewable fuels or low-carbon fuels, for example through blending, feedstock sourcing, fuel traceability or sustainability reporting.
- Experience in energy trading, downstream operations, refining, logistics or supply chain.
- Experience with energy trading and risk management (ETRM), ERP or related operational platforms.
