About this role

What You'll Do

Development Requests & Projects

  • Independently complete routine development requests and small projects assigned through the intake process.
  • Take on moderately complex work with guidance from senior team members.
  • Clarify requirements with requesters before starting work and confirm the finished solution meets business needs.
  • Provide timely status updates and realistic estimates on assigned work.

Software Development & Integrations

  • Write and modify PowerOn programs and produce artifacts such as inputs, outputs, reports, scripts, and letter files, with review from senior developers.
  • Develop and maintain working knowledge of Symitar data structures, including accounts, shares, loans, and file maintenance.
  • Assist with vendor integration setup, data imports and exports, and testing.
  • Expand technical skills and knowledge in programming languages, data structures, and development tools as opportunities arise.

Quality & Change Control

  • Test assigned work thoroughly before submitting it for review.
  • Complete required documentation, approvals, and change management steps for all changes.
  • Participate in code reviews and apply feedback to improve quality.
  • Follow development standards, security practices, and deployment procedures.

Department & Vendor Partnership

  • Work directly with departments to understand and clarify routine requests.
  • Develop an understanding of credit union operations and how departments interact, including lending, collections, branches, payments, and ACH.
  • Handle vendor tickets for known issues and escalate complex issues as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with teammates through cross-training, documentation, and knowledge sharing.

Additional Functions

  • Follows applicable laws and regulations including but not limited to Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) requirements and adheres to Robins Financial Credit Union policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What You Need to Succeed:

Required Education & Experience:

  • + Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Development, or a related field preferred; an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.

+ Minimum of one year of programming, software development, internship, co-op, or related technical experience.

+ Preferred Education and Experience

  • Experience working with Symitar and PowerOn development.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • + Strong verbal and written communication skills.

+ Working knowledge of programming fundamentals.

+ Exposure to modern programming languages and experience working with structured and unstructured data is preferred.

+ Understanding of testing, documentation, and change management practices.

+ Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to work through problems.

+ Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical issues in simple terms.

+ Ability to manage multiple assignments, meet deadlines, and learn new technologies quickly.

+ Strong verbal and written communication skills.
