Location:

Contract:

Long-term, open-ended contract – potential for direct hire

Compensation:

$40–$48/hour + PTO, Paid Holidays, and Optional Benefits

Schedule:

100% Onsite

Travel:

Up to 10%

Overtime:

Occasional evening and/or weekend overtime may be required

About the Role

Join a dynamic team of software engineers responsible for the development and support of embedded application software for a new ground combat vehicle program.

This role will contribute throughout the full software development lifecycle, including:

  • Designing and migrating to a new software development environment
  • Developing requirements, design, and architecture documentation
  • Developing, integrating, and testing software code
  • Supporting software development across various vehicle domains

This position is 100% onsite in Sterling Heights, MI due to the nature of the work.

Responsibilities

  • Develop software documentation and code across vehicle domains such as board support, cybersecurity, displays, and downloading.
  • Perform software requirements analysis.
  • Develop preliminary and detailed software designs using department-approved tools and standards.
  • Develop software code in accordance with established department standards and procedures.
  • Develop test procedures and perform unit and functional testing of executable software.
  • Perform hardware/software integration.
  • Debug software issues identified throughout multiple testing phases.
  • Provide development status updates to software project leads.
  • Contribute to software releases involving multiple developers.
  • Collaborate with other departments and business units, including Systems Engineering and Software Quality.
  • Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • 1–4 years of experience in software development or a related engineering discipline.
  • Experience with one or more of the following: Git, GitLab, Bitbucket, Java, C#, C++, C, Python, and Qt.
  • Experience working in mixed operating system environments, including VxWorks, Linux, RTOS, virtualization, BSPs, GVOS, or similar platforms.
  • Experience with serial and network protocols such as RS-232/422, CAN, TCP/IP, and UDP/IP.
  • Experience with DDS, Kafka, or other publish/subscribe middleware.
  • Experience with ground combat vehicle network architecture.
  • Familiarity with GCIA, MOSA, SOSA, and/or FACE standards.
  • Experience working with Agile development processes and tools.

Preferred / Additional Experience

  • Previous experience working in the defense industry.
  • Familiarity with Type 1/Type 2 hypervisors.
  • Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with IoT concepts.
  • Experience with Cameo Systems Modeler.
  • Experience with Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN) architectures.
  • Experience with the NGVA (NATO Generic Vehicle Architecture) data model.
  • Experience with the UKGVA (UK Ground Vehicle Architecture) data model.
  • Experience with Data Distribution Service (DDS).
  • Experience with UDP and TCP networking protocols.
  • Experience with multicast networking.
  • Ability to implement continuous improvement processes and methodologies.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Additional Requirements

  • Must be able to work occasional evening and/or weekend overtime as required.
  • Position may require the ability to climb on and off, work inside, and work around military vehicles.
  • Must be able to pass an

Anthropometric Size Requirement (ASR) test

for confined-space access.

  • Periodic travel of up to

10%
