Description

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Nurse for a Med/Surg night shift position requiring a minimum of 2 years of nursing experience and prior travel nursing experience.

Details

• Med/Surg unit with a heavy surgical patient presence, though standard Med/Surg patients are also cared for
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 18:45 to 07:15
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Any EMR charting system experience required
• Floating within the hospital required as needed

Requirements

• Active LA state or compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• BLS certification required
• Charge nurse experience preferred
• Skilled in GI care including bariatric surgery, bowel obstruction, and colostomy/ileostomy management
• Experienced in IV therapy/phlebotomy, central line and PICC line management, and blood product administration
• Respiratory care skills including chest tube management, HFNC, oxygen administration, and tracheostomy care
• Experience with medication administration including heparin, insulin, and PCA
• Knowledge of isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound vac management
• Experience with renal failure and surgical drains in a GU/renal setting
• Cardiac monitoring and rapid response/code team experience
• Hernia and thyroidectomy surgical experience
• One professional reference required for consideration
• SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

• Orientation includes a virtual Day 1 followed by on-site Days 2 and 3 with additional EMR training
• Candidates must disclose any license disciplinary actions at the time of consideration
• Candidates with recent professional cancellations will be reviewed prior to approval
• Holiday RTO requests should be kept to a minimum
• Former employees must be separated from the facility for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be considered
