About this role

Title: Business Intelligence / Tableau Administrator

Location: Hartford, CT (Hybrid)

Employment Type: Contract, 12 months with possible extension

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced BI / Tableau Administrator to support and sustain an enterprise reporting and analytics platform. You will administer the Tableau Cloud environment, support the Azure-based data layer behind it, and partner with development and integration teams to keep data flowing reliably to business users.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer Tableau Cloud sites, projects, users, groups, permissions, and security
  • Monitor platform health, extract refreshes, subscriptions, and scheduled jobs
  • Troubleshoot Tableau performance, connectivity, and reporting issues
  • Support report developers, analysts, and business users
  • Deploy and promote reports across environments
  • Support and troubleshoot Azure SQL Database environments used for enterprise reporting
  • Investigate reporting data issues and perform data validation
  • Monitor database connectivity, query performance, and data refresh processes
  • Assist with SQL/SOQL troubleshooting and performance optimization
  • Monitor and support Azure Data Factory pipelines that load Salesforce and other source-system data into Azure SQL Database
  • Troubleshoot data load failures and data quality issues, and help identify root causes of integration and reporting problems
  • Collaborate with development and integration teams during incident resolution and deployments
  • Support MuleSoft Runtime Fabric (RTF) environments and integrations that impact reporting platforms

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in a similar role, with the ability to plan and achieve goals alongside a team, mentor less experienced staff, and work with a high degree of independence
  • Hands-on experience with Tableau Cloud administration and support
  • Experience with Salesforce objects, fields, relationships, and the impact of design decisions, applying best practices
  • Experience supporting dashboards and enterprise reporting and analytics platforms
  • Strong SQL skills and experience with Azure SQL Database or similar relational databases
  • Experience with user management: onboarding, deactivation, roles, profiles, permission sets, sharing rules, and other routine tasks
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills around user access, declarative logic, business requests, environment management, and backup solutions
  • Comfortable engaging and escalating issues to Salesforce support
  • Experience across all phases of the SDLC, including creating and maintaining technical documentation
  • Ability to work with the Salesforce Architect to establish best practices, and to give management input on design, architecture, work estimation, and resource planning
  • Ability to provide guidance and training to team members
  • Highly organized, proactive, and self-directed, able to drive work from requirements through implementation
  • Strong abstract thinking, and excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Azure Data Factory (ADF)
  • Experience with MuleSoft Runtime Fabric (RTF) or MuleSoft integrations
  • Experience with Salesforce data and reporting environments
  • Microsoft Azure experience
