Job description

About this role

Public sector organisations across the UK and Ireland are moving from isolated CRM implementations to connected, data-driven and AI-enabled services. Trusted, unified data is now the foundation for every Agentforce and personalised-engagement ambition we deliver.

As a Technical Architect Director specialising in Data Cloud, you’ll advise on, design and govern the transformation of complex cloud-based solutions across multiple teams and workstreams in our UK&I Public Sector practice. You’ll partner directly with customers to architect solutions aligned to strategic business outcomes.

Through effective governance and design oversight, you’ll make sure architecture stays consistent, scalable and high quality. You’ll balance immediate delivery priorities against long-term platform strategy, building data, integration and emerging AI capabilities into every design.

This is a senior individual-contributor role with no line management responsibilities. You’ll work closely with Delivery Managers, Solution Architects and Account Teams, you may be hands-on in architecture work, and you may lead a workstream.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

  • Lead architecture and technical governance across projects and workstreams, making sure Data Cloud solutions are consistent, high quality and aligned to enterprise standards.
  • Oversee delivery teams so that solutions are scalable, secure and high-performing at every level of complexity, including large-volume, high-traffic public services.
  • Design data foundations for AI: ingestion, harmonisation, identity resolution, calculated insights, segmentation, activation and zero-copy patterns across Salesforce and non-Salesforce estates.
  • Identify systemic risks, architectural gaps and optimisation opportunities across solutions, and act on them early.
  • Partner with customer stakeholders (CTOs, chief architects, data leaders) to define technical roadmaps aligned to business outcomes and platform strategy.
  • Lead customer discovery to validate business objectives, the root causes of challenges, and the factors that will determine success.
  • Advise on org and platform strategy, security governance (including data privacy and responsible AI governance), and AI readiness.
  • Support pre-sales by shaping Data Cloud solution approaches and explaining their technical value.
  • Tell compelling stories that combine experience, customer examples and clear outcomes, and move stakeholders towards a shared future state.
  • Contribute to or lead practice initiatives that improve delivery capability, assets and knowledge sharing, particularly for Data Cloud and data-led AI.
  • Mentor and coach team members, and develop emerging technical leaders.
  • Balance short-term delivery needs with long-term scalability and emerging AI capabilities, and model responsible, human-centred use of AI.

You're Our Person If...

  • Extensive experience leading architecture and technical governance across complex, multi-team Salesforce programmes, including acting as design authority.
  • Deep, hands-on expertise in Salesforce Data Cloud (Data 360): data modelling, ingestion and transformation, identity resolution, calculated insights, segmentation, activation and data governance.
  • Strong data architecture and management skills: defining data requirements, guiding data integration, governing data assets, and supporting scalable analytics and AI-ready solutions.
  • Experience designing scalable, performant solutions for large data volumes and high-traffic applications.
  • Strong integration knowledge: Salesforce APIs, event-driven integration, MuleSoft or equivalent, and enterprise data platforms (e.g. Snowflake, Databricks, Azure, MS Fabric).
  • A track record of defining technical strategy and roadmaps, and of org and platform strategy (single vs multi-org, including the business, cultural, technical and support considerations).
  • Practical experience of security governance: risk management, data privacy and responsible AI governance.
  • Agentforce experience: grounding agents in trusted data, and guiding customers on topics, instructions, guardrails and actions.
  • AI fluency and discernment: you apply AI to improve delivery outcomes, and you critically evaluate AI-generated outputs for accuracy, bias and completeness.
  • Excellent communication and leadership presence with executive, business and technical audiences, including difficult conversations about risk and misalignment.
  • Experience architecting or governing Marketing Cloud solutions (Engagement and/or Marketing Cloud Next / Advanced) alongside Data Cloud, such as activating Data Cloud segments into journeys, consent and preference management, and cross-channel engagement.

Even Better If...

  • UK or Irish public sector experience, including its procurement, assurance and data protection context (e.g. UK GDPR, DPIAs, government security classifications).
  • Eligibility for, or existing, UK security clearance (SC; NPPV for policing).
  • Salesforce certifications such as Data Cloud Consultant, Data Architect, Marketing Cloud Consultant / Architect, Application or System Architect, or Certified Technical Architect (CTA), or progress towards CTA.
  • Experience shaping repeatable propositions or industry solutions.
