Job Summary

Join Pratt & Whitney’s Asheville team as a Quality Inspector and play a critical role in ensuring the quality and airworthiness of aerospace components. You’ll perform dimensional and visual inspections, interpret drawings and technical specifications, document results, and partner with Operations to identify and resolve quality issues while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality.

This is a 3 rd Shift position

Tuesday – Friday, 10:00 pm – 7:30 am

What You Will Do:

  • Perform dimensional and visual inspections of aerospace components, including blades, vanes, tools, gages, and equipment, using drawings, inspection procedures, specifications, and a variety of fixed and variable measuring instruments.
  • Perform in-process and final inspections, including over-inspects, to verify dimensions, workmanship, and compliance with required process steps and technical standards.
  • Use automated and precision inspection equipment, including Keyence and profilometers as applicable, to accurately measure and document inspection results.
  • Identify and document nonconformances, generate Quality Notifications (QNs), and perform problem-solving to determine the extent of issues and appropriate disposition.
  • Perform required Solumina job audits and Operational Certification (OpCert) surveillance and over-inspects.
  • Maintain current knowledge of applicable customer, FAA, JAA, and other technical requirements and ensure compliance with established procedures and standard work.
  • Develop technical proficiency through training and certification, including obtaining and maintaining required inspection certification/stamps, and provide technical support or training to other employees as qualified.
  • Maintain a strong working relationship with Operations and demonstrate a consistent commitment to safety, quality, productivity, and teamwork.
  • This position requires shift work and overtime as needed. The role also requires frequent bending, reaching, pulling, and pushing.

What You Will Learn:

  • Advanced inspection techniques and aerospace quality standards while working directly in a production environment.
  • Blueprint reading, technical standards, precision measurement, and the use of basic and advanced inspection equipment.
  • Final inspection, Quality Notification (QN) generation, OpCert over-inspects, and advanced layout inspection skills.
  • Pratt & Whitney inspection processes, systems, and requirements necessary to obtain and maintain required inspection certifications.

Qualifications

You Must Have:

  • High School Diploma or GED

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Previous aerospace manufacturing or inspection experience
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, inspection procedures, and technical specifications.
  • Experience using Keyence, profilometers, or other precision measuring equipment.
  • Experience with SAP or Solumina.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

This role is

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.
