The Industrial Engineer Co-op will work at the Melbourne, FL facility for the Summer and Fall semesters of 2026. This position is for an Industrial, Mechanical, Process Engineering student interested in gaining hands-on experience in manufacturing. The selected candidate will work in a cross-functional team that applies manufacturing concepts, techniques, analysis, and decision tools to promote and implement changes.
The candidate should have good written and verbal communication skills that is willing to learn and has the ability to work in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
What You Will Do
- Immerse yourself in a full-time, Monday-Friday co-op session, that will run May/June- December (including the Fall semester; it is expected students will take a semester off from coursework to fully engage with this working mentorship opportunity).
- Improve operator productivity through improvement in manufacturing processes
- Design tooling to aid in manufacturing process
- Supports Lean/Six Sigma initiatives including 5S, Waste Reduction, and Flow Improvements.
- Analyze manufacturing processes for cost reduction opportunity
- Plans and designs layout for manufacturing processes and equipment
What You Will Learn:
- Learn how to Develop Standard work for production area
- Learn how to resolve production issues.
- Learn how to utilize Six Sigma tools
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Actively pursuing a Bachelors degree in Industrial Engineering or Mechanical Engineering through the duration of the co-op session.
- Must have earned a minimum of 30 credit hours by the start of the co-op session.
Qualifications
We Prefer:
- Experience with Microsoft Office Applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point.
- Experience with CAD software including SolidWorks and AutoCAD

Onsite
Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
