About this role

Job Title: Salesforce Marketing Cloud Developer

Type of Employment: Full-Time

Location: Remote - LATAM

About the Role

We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Salesforce Marketing Cloud Developer to support day-to-day marketing operations, campaign execution, data management, and platform maintenance.

In this role, you will work closely with the marketing team to manage platform requests, maintain existing workflows, troubleshoot technical issues, and ensure marketing campaigns and customer journeys run accurately and reliably.

You will also be responsible for validating audience selections, monitoring automations, maintaining data quality, and following established testing and change-management procedures to protect live production workflows.

Beyond technical execution, we are looking for someone who takes ownership of assigned requests, communicates directly with stakeholders, clarifies requirements, and drives tasks through completion. You should be comfortable managing multiple priorities, documenting your work, and independently handling routine requests while collaborating with the Marketing Cloud lead on more complex technical challenges.

This is a hands-on, data-oriented role that combines SQL development, Salesforce Marketing Cloud administration, campaign support, and operational troubleshooting. The ideal candidate is technically capable, organized, proactive, and committed to delivering accurate, well-documented work in a live production environment.

Key Responsibilities

1. Salesforce Marketing Cloud Administration and Execution

  • Manage and maintain Salesforce Marketing Cloud data structures, including Data Extensions, subscriber data, and related data models.
  • Support the execution, maintenance, and optimization of marketing campaigns, automations, and existing workflows.
  • Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot automations using Automation Studio.
  • Support customer journey configuration, execution, and maintenance using Journey Builder.
  • Manage audience segmentation, data processing, imports, exports, and related platform activities.
  • Validate audience selection, exclusion criteria, personalization, and workflow logic before campaign or journey activation to ensure accurate and reliable customer communications.
  • Proactively monitor recurring automations, journeys, and data processes to identify failures, unexpected audience changes, and potential communication issues.
  • Investigate issues involving SQL queries, automations, data flows, audience selection, and campaign execution, escalating complex problems when necessary.
  • Evaluate the downstream impact of changes to Data Extensions, SQL queries, automations, and journeys within the live production environment.
  • Assess dependencies, validate changes, and follow established testing and change-management procedures to minimize disruptions to customer communications and existing workflows.
  • Identify opportunities to improve existing processes, strengthen operational reliability, and make day-to-day marketing activities more efficient.

2. SQL Development and Data Management

  • Write, execute, optimize, and troubleshoot SQL queries to support audience segmentation, data transformation, campaign requirements, and marketing operations.
  • Apply SQL techniques such as joins, aggregations, subqueries, conditional logic, deduplication, and date manipulation to retrieve, combine, filter, and transform marketing data.
  • Troubleshoot complex audience selection logic and investigate discrepancies in query results or data processing.
  • Understand relationships between data sources and how Data Extensions, subscriber records, and other data structures support campaign execution.
  • Validate data accuracy, audience counts, exclusion rules, and query results before changes are implemented in production.
  • Maintain organized, accurate, and consistent data structures within Salesforce Marketing Cloud.
  • Document SQL queries, Data Extensions, automations, journeys, and audience selection logic in accordance with established naming conventions and platform standards.
  • Follow established data management practices to maintain data integrity, consistency, and reliability across marketing workflows.

3. Stakeholder Communication and Task Ownership

  • Work directly with marketing team members to understand requests, clarify requirements, and determine appropriate technical solutions.
  • Take ownership of assigned requests from initial intake and requirements clarification through implementation, testing, documentation, and completion.
  • Manage assigned work through the team’s ticketing and task management system, Azure DevOps, including documenting progress, providing status updates, and recording completed tasks.
  • Communicate proactively when requirements are unclear, technical issues arise, or additional information is needed.
  • Keep stakeholders informed of progress, blockers, risks, and expected completion timelines.
  • Balance multiple requests and priorities while maintaining accuracy, following established processes, and meeting agreed deadlines.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing Cloud lead on complex technical or data-related questions while independently managing routine platform and campaign requests.
  • Identify recurring issues, document troubleshooting steps, and recommend process improvements when appropriate.

  • Familiarity with marketing automations, campaign execution, and customer journey workflows.
  • Ability to troubleshoot SQL errors, data discrepancies, automation failures, and issues affecting campaign execution.
  • Understanding of data validation, audience exclusion criteria, and the importance of accurate customer communications.
  • Familiarity with HTML/CSS, AMPscript, JavaScript, Server-Side JavaScript (SSJS), APIs, other scripting languages, or workflow automation technologies.
  • Awareness of production environment risks, including dependencies between data structures, queries, automations, and customer journeys.
