About the Team More than 3 billion people in over 180 countries use WhatsApp to stay in touch with friends and family, anytime and anywhere. In India, it is also where a great deal of everyday life gets done - people message businesses, coordinate their families, and increasingly send money as easily as they send a message. We are building a new team to take WhatsApp further in that direction.

The newly established WhatsApp Services team is focused on making WhatsApp more useful for more of what people already use it for, and on building what comes next.

About the Role

This PM and Market Leader of India will oversee the newly announced pillar for WhatsApp, treated as a zero-to-one effort so we can move fast, take risks, and build as we go. Staffed and prioritized, like every other WhatsApp pillar, from the very first day. Payments on WhatsApp aren't a bet on paper: live in India since 2020 and growing; the existing WhatsApp payments team moves across as the pillar's foundation.

As a Product Leader at WhatsApp, you will use your experience building products from early concept through launch in fast-moving environments and your full range of product development skills to produce intuitive, user-friendly features. You’ll be expected to push the boundaries of what’s possible in a mobile app, while sharing in our commitment to quality and attention to detail.

This is a role for someone who can hold both the ceiling and the floor: sets an ambitious long-term vision for what WhatsApp can become in India.

Director, Product Management - WhatsApp India Responsibilities

• Drive product strategy and development for one of the highest-priority initiatives across WhatsApp and Meta
• Establish a shared vision across the company (WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, Messenger) and ensure that all teams are clear on the overall strategy, the problem to be solved, timeline, and required contributions
• Ability to move fast to drive alignment and execution – Turn high volumes of different actions into repeatable processes and playbooks, and get alignment within and across teams through both influence and framing clear escalations when team priorities conflict
• Manage multiple products and priorities, scale teams, and ensure org is effective, healthy and set up for success by establishing clear and measurable goals – Collaborate, navigate and influence product teams across WhatsApp
• Consumer, Business, Privacy, Growth and Messaging Services, and the broader Meta organization (including Instagram and Facebook)
• Drive executional excellence and analytical rigor across teams – Drive internal and external process improvements across multiple teams and functions to reduce operational overhead, streamline decision-making and accelerate overall execution
• Manage business reviews (i.e., weekly/monthly business reviews, functional reviews, and other key meetings), staff meetings, and all hands meetings
• Lead reviews of dashboards and reports for stakeholders and team members to drive transparency and track improvements
• Proactively identify issues and needs, escalate as needed, and devise processes to resolve them
• Coordinate working groups for areas of ownership that we need to establish, but which cut across organizational lines
• At times, you may be specifically tasked to own a workstream, or to dive deep into different parts of the organization
• Lead org-wide projects to create business value, aligning multiple stakeholders across Meta, including various product teams, go-to-market, Finance, Operations, Research, and Family of Apps

Minimum Qualifications

• 15+ years of product management experience, with at least 5 years leading PM teams (managing managers)
• Strong technical judgment and ability to partner with ML/ranking teams on signal quality, bidding systems, and delivery optimization
• Demonstrated ability to manage a portfolio of bets at different maturity stages — from 0-to-1 incubation to billion-dollar scaled products — simultaneously
• Exceptional cross-functional leadership: ability to drive alignment across engineering, data science, design, sales, partnerships, and policy
• Experience applying analytical rigor and data-driven decision-making, including defining and optimizing product metrics and data-driven decision-making, with experience in defining and optimizing metrics

Preferred Qualifications

• B.A. or B.S. in Computer Science or a related field (Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Business)
• Experience in building and scaling early-stage growth efforts
• Proficiency in using AI tools as part of day-to-day product development and general productivity workflow
• Track record of successfully executing the strategy in the APAC region
• Experience working with payment infrastructure in emerging markets
