Control Software Test Engineer - Python

Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced Validation & Test Automation Engineer who will contribute as a Control Software Test Engineer for our customer’s Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) programs. The role involves developing test specifications, automating test execution, and validating control software across SIL, HIL, and embedded environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop test specifications, test plans, and validation strategies for BESS control software.
• Using Python (pytest) frameworks, validate control algorithms and embedded software developed using MATLAB/Simulink and C++.
• Design, automate, and execute SIL and HIL test cases using Python (PyTest).
• Configure and operate HIL platforms such as dSPACE, NI, Vector, or OPAL-RT.
• Validate closed-loop control systems, communication interfaces (MODBUS/MQTT), and real-time applications.
• Execute and automate UI testing.
• Integrate validation activities into CI/CD pipelines and Agile development processes.
• Utilize AI-assisted tools to improve validation efficiency and test coverage.

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electronics/Electrical Engineering, or related field.

Experience

• 6 to 10 years of experience in software validation and test automation.
• Strong experience in Python-based test automation using PyTest.
• Hands-on experience in HIL/SIL testing and embedded software validation.
• Experience in control algorithm testing and model-based development environments.
• Understanding of real-time systems and industrial communication protocols.

Mandatory Skills

• Expertise in automation using Python – pytest framework
• Hands-on knowledge of Linux systems, Docker containers
• Agile way of working with global teams
• Hands-on experience working with CI-CD pipelines, Github, Confluence, JIRA
• Knowledge of BESS domain
• Effectively use AI tools to accelerate validation

Preferred Skills

• UI automation using Playwright
• Performance and scalability testing of control software
• Ansible-based deployment basics
• Power systems, renewable energy, or grid controls
• ISTQB Advanced Certification
• Experience working with global customers and distributed teams
