About this role
If you want to lead marketing for products that genuinely help firefighters do their jobs more safely and effectively, this is your opportunity to shape how a respected name in the fire service shows up in the market.
About Weis Fire & Safety
Weis Fire & Safety has been serving the fire service industry for more than 50 years. As a family-owned company, we’ve built our reputation by taking care of our customers, standing behind our products, and investing in our people.
We build fire apparatus and wildland trucks, design our patented Commander Series (Draft Commander®, Foam Commander®, and Hose Commander®), and supply the equipment firefighters rely on every day, from SCBA and thermal imaging cameras to rescue tools, hose, nozzles, turnout gear, and scene lighting.
Our customers are municipal fire departments, rural fire districts, industrial facilities, and safety professionals who count on us to help keep their people and communities safe.
About the Role
You’ll lead our marketing efforts and work hand in hand with sales, engineering, production, and leadership to grow the business. This is a hands-on role: you’ll set the plan, manage the budget, and lead a small team, and you’ll also roll up your sleeves to help close deals, run trade shows, and get new products out the door. If you like being the person who connects the dots across a company, you’ll fit right in.
What You’ll Do
Lead marketing strategy and the team
- Build and run an annual marketing plan and budget tied to our sales and growth goals, across apparatus, the Commander Series, and our equipment lines
- Lead, coach, and develop the Content and Social Media Marketing Representative and/or marketing interns
- Set priorities for content, social, email, web, and advertising, and make sure the work gets done well and on time
- Set goals for growing our social media audience and engagement, and hold the team accountable to them
- Manage outside agencies, freelancers, and vendors
Support sales
- Partner with our Territory Account Managers and National Sales Manager on proposals, bid responses, and quotes for fire departments, municipalities, and industrial customers, including writing, editing, formatting, and pulling together product and company information
- Create and maintain sales tools like presentations, brochures, spec sheets, apparatus build sheets, case studies, and proposal templates
- Work with sales to plan campaigns that generate and nurture leads, and track how those leads turn into business
- Gather feedback from the sales team, fire chiefs, and apparatus committees to sharpen our messaging
Run trade shows and events
- Plan our trade show and fire service conference calendar and manage registrations, booth design, shipping, and logistics (including displaying apparatus and equipment)
- Attend shows to staff the booth, meet customers and prospects, run product demos, and capture leads
- Make sure every lead from a show gets followed up on, and report on what each show delivered
Work across the company
- Work with engineering and production on product launches, positioning, and pricing input, including the Commander Series
- Showcase the apparatus we build, from build milestones to delivery days, so departments see our quality and craftsmanship
- Support HR with employer branding and recruiting content to help us attract skilled people to our production team
- Partner with leadership on company announcements, website updates, and public-facing communications
- Keep an eye on competitors and fire service market trends, and share what you learn
Measure and improve
- Track and report on marketing performance, including leads, pipeline influence, website traffic, social growth, and campaign results
- Use data to decide where to invest time and budget, and adjust when something isn’t working
Who We’re Looking For
- 5 or more years of marketing experience, including at least 2 years leading projects, programs, or people
- A bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, communications, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Experience working closely with sales teams, including helping write proposals or bid responses (public-sector bids are a plus)
- Hands-on trade show and event experience
- Strong writing, editing, and presentation skills
- Experience managing a marketing budget and outside vendors
- Comfort with CRM and marketing automation tools (such as Salesforce or HubSpot) and web analytics
- The ability to understand technical products and explain their value in practical terms
- Ability to travel up to 25%
Nice to Have
- Experience in the fire service, public safety, or emergency vehicle industry
- B2B or government marketing experience in manufacturing, industrial, or technical products
- Experience with product launches and channel or distributor marketing
- Website management experience
