About this role
We’re busy. We’re growing. We’re WebDrafter.com.
We’re looking to immediately hire a dependable Web Developer to help build, maintain, and troubleshoot websites for a variety of clients. WordPress is a large part of our work, but this position involves much more than building WordPress pages. Projects range from new website builds and design updates to eCommerce, performance improvements, integrations, hosting, email, and technical troubleshooting.
You should be comfortable working with existing websites and someone else’s code, following a Project Manager’s direction, and independently investigating problems when the solution isn’t obvious. We’re looking for someone who cares about both the visual details and the technical side of a website.
Applicants must reside in Pennsylvania. Please do not apply if you live outside of Pennsylvania.
Most work is remote, but you must be willing and able to travel to our Newport, PA office for initial training and occasional meetings or additional training as needed.
What You’ll Do
- Build, update, and maintain responsive websites across desktop, tablet, and mobile.
- Work extensively with WordPress, including Gutenberg / blocks and Elementor / Elementor Pro.
- Translate designs and project instructions into polished, accurate website layouts.
- Customize and troubleshoot existing websites, themes, plugins, forms, and integrations.
- Work with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP to customize functionality and resolve problems.
- Diagnose website errors, broken layouts, plugin conflicts, performance issues, and problems caused by updates.
- Work with eCommerce, forms, third-party integrations, and other specialized website functionality.
- Improve website speed, usability, accessibility, and basic technical SEO.
- Assist with hosting-related tasks including cPanel/WHM, migrations, backups, SSL, DNS, redirects, and website/email troubleshooting.
- Test your work and clearly communicate progress, questions, problems, and completed changes.
What We’re Looking For
- Strong HTML and CSS skills with experience building responsive websites.
- Solid hands-on WordPress experience, including Gutenberg / WordPress blocks and Elementor or similar page builders.
- Working knowledge of JavaScript and PHP and the ability to understand and modify existing code.
- Experience troubleshooting websites rather than simply building new pages.
- Familiarity with WordPress themes, plugins, forms, updates, and common compatibility issues.
- Basic understanding of hosting, domains, DNS, SSL, SMTP, and website email delivery.
- Good production habits, including backups, staging, testing, and documenting changes.
- Strong attention to visual details, including typography, spacing, responsive behavior, and usability.
- Ability to manage multiple client projects, follow direction, meet deadlines, and work independently.
- Clear written and verbal communication and a willingness to research unfamiliar problems and learn new tools.
Additional Experience Is a Plus
Experience with any of the following is helpful but not required:
- WooCommerce, Shopify, Wix / Wix Studio
- Gravity Forms, ACF, WP Rocket
- cPanel / WHM, SSH, WP-CLI
- APIs and webhooks, Git
- Google Workspace, Microsoft 365
- Photoshop / Adobe Creative Cloud
- website accessibility
- technical SEO
- analytics and conversion tracking
- AI-assisted development tools and workflows
Experience & Education
- 2+ years of professional website development, maintenance, or related experience preferred.
- Demonstrated experience working with WordPress and troubleshooting existing websites.
- Degree, certificate, or technical training in web development, computer science, information technology, or a related field is a plus, but equivalent hands-on professional experience is equally valued.
- A portfolio or examples of completed website work are required.
How to Apply

- Your preferred working arrangement (full-time, part-time, W-2, or subcontractor) and earliest start date.
