Job description

About this role

Product Roadmap Management

  • Maintain and communicate a clear, prioritized product roadmap across OffenderWatch's full portfolio of products - including OWL (our modern web platform), OW Express (remote registration), Public Portals, Booking Alerts, Mobile, and emerging AI modules
  • Responsibility for a product portfolio in which platform modernization and technical debt are part of the full picture
  • Translate business strategy, customer feedback, and market intelligence into a coherent roadmap that the entire organization can rally around
  • Balance near-term delivery commitments against longer-term strategic initiatives, making tradeoff decisions transparently and with clear rationale

Requirements Definition and Management

  • Own the full requirements process from discovery through acceptance - user stories, functional specifications, acceptance criteria, and edge case documentation
  • Conduct structured discovery with customers, Law Enforcement Liaisons, and internal stakeholders to surface and validate requirements before committing engineering resources
  • Maintain a well-groomed, prioritized backlog that gives engineering teams clear direction at all times, eliminating ambiguity as a source of delay or rework

Cross-Departmental Launch Readiness

  • Lead product launch planning that goes well beyond engineering delivery - ensuring that Sales has positioning and enablement materials, Customer Success has adoption playbooks, Support has training and documentation, and Operations has implementation processes ready before features reach customers
  • Define and own the "definition of done" at the organizational level, not just the engineering level
  • Conduct structured post-launch reviews to capture what worked, what didn't, and what the next iteration should prioritize

Prioritization and Governance

  • Implement and maintain a clear, consistent prioritization framework that balances customer commitments, strategic initiatives, technical debt, and regulatory requirements
  • Facilitate regular product council or prioritization forums that give stakeholders a structured voice in roadmap decisions without creating committee-driven gridlock
  • Communicate roadmap decisions - including what is not being prioritized and why - with clarity and consistency across the organization

Metrics and Outcomes

  • Define and track product success metrics beyond delivery velocity - feature adoption rates, customer satisfaction impact, support ticket deflection, and revenue contribution
  • Bring a data-informed mindset to prioritization decisions, using customer usage data, support trends, and commercial feedback to validate or challenge assumptions

AI-Enabled Product Management

  • Integrate Claude into each stage of the product management lifecycle: synthesizing agency feedback and support trends, drafting PRDs, user stories, and acceptance criteria, preparing release notes and launch materials, and analyzing usage and adoption data
  • Build and maintain reusable Claude workflows, skills, and prompt standards, connected to Jira, Confluence, and Microsoft 365, that the product team and adjacent departments can use consistently
  • Define human review standards for AI-assisted work so requirements, documentation, and customer-facing content are accurate before they reach engineering or agencies
  • Ensure AI use stays within CJIS Security Policy and company data-handling rules, keeping criminal justice information and offender PII out of any tool not approved for it
  • Measure the impact of AI-enabled workflows on cycle time, requirements quality, and rework

What We're Looking For

Required:

  • 5+ years of product management experience in a SaaS environment, with demonstrated experience managing a portfolio of multiple products or modules simultaneously
  • Proven ability to own and communicate a product roadmap in a resource-constrained environment where prioritization is genuinely hard
  • Strong requirements discipline - you write clear user stories, you know how to conduct effective discovery, and you understand that a vague requirement is a future defect
  • Experience leading cross-functional launch readiness processes that include Sales, Customer Success, and Support - not just engineering handoff
  • Comfort operating in a company where product management processes are still maturing - you have built or significantly improved PM practices before, and you know how to bring structure without creating bureaucracy
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills - you can write a crisp one-pager for the CEO and a detailed PRD for engineering, and you know which one to use when
  • Hands-on experience using generative AI tools such as Claude in day-to-day product work, with concrete examples of workflows you built that improved speed or quality
  • Familiarity with compliance-driven product requirements (CJIS, FedRAMP, SOC 2, ADA/accessibility), and proven ability to evaluate compliance impact before a product ships

Strongly Preferred:

  • Experience with government or public sector software, or other highly regulated vertical SaaS environments
  • Experience working alongside a founder in a hands-on product leadership role
  • Exposure to AI/ML feature development and the specific product challenges of bringing AI capabilities to non-technical end users
  • Experience building Claude skills, MCP connectors, or agent workflows, or rolling out AI tools across a team with training and adoption support
  • Proficiency with product management tooling (Jira, Productboard, Aha!, or similar) and the ability to implement consistent tool usage across the engineering organization

You'll thrive here if:

  • You are energized by complexity and variety rather than overwhelmed by it
  • You believe that product management's job is to make engineering more effective, not to advocate for features
  • You are comfortable saying no - to customers, to sales, to leadership - when the reasoning is clear and the alternatives are well-considered
  • You see AI as a way to raise the quality and consistency of product work, not a shortcut around judgment
  • You take the mission seriously and want to work on software that matters

Compensation and Benefits

Competitive base salary commensurate with experience, annual performance bonus, equity participation, and full benefits including health, dental, vision, and 401(k). Hybrid work arrangement with flexibility for the right candidate.
