Millwork and Fabrication Designer
Vero Design + Build, a design build firm that specializes in general contracting, custom millwork and steel fabrication, is looking for a millwork and fabrication designer. The Designer role is generally responsible for design development and preparation of shop production drawings for all projects.
The Designer will work in conjunction with all aspects of the Vero Design + Build team to assist in the execution of current projects. The job specific requirements will vary according to scope of work, project budget, quantity of goods and engineering requirements for fabrication.
The production of clear and detailed drawings is crucial to our ability to communicate with clients, estimators, outside trades as well as successful production in our shops.
Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret shop drawings, blueprints, and project specifications.
- Participation in project meetings with client, architect, interior designer and general contractor
- Project kickoff and Design development, in conjunction with estimators, project managers and operations manager.
- Preparation of all drawings as required for submittal review, in-house fabrication and outsourced purchasing.
- Issuance of approved shop drawings and administration of updates and changes.
- Ongoing communication with shop teams to ensure adherence to design intent, company fabrication standards.
- Regular jobsite visits to coordinate with field teams and perform VIF’s.
Qualifications:
- 5 years’ industry related experience with design build, architectural or custom fabrication
- Comprehensive understanding of architectural and shop drawings.
- Strong working knowledge of 2 axis / 3 axis CNC production
- Strong working knowledge of metal fabrication techniques (MIG, TIG, Milling, Bending, Cutting)
- Strong working knowledge of solid wood fabrication (Milling material, material yield, construction methods and applications)
- Strong working knowledge of cabinet and interior fixture assemblies (Sheet goods, material yield, standard assemble, custom assemble, hardware specifications, installation methods
- Strong working knowledge of Finish systems for solid wood, veneered sheet goods and metal (Steel, stainless steel, copper alloys and aluminum)
- Versatility in contemporary rendering programs, including but not limited Auto CAD / Solid Works / Revit / Rhino / Adobe Suite
- Bachelor’s degree in industrial design, architecture, interior architecture or equivalent
- Ability to develop and present design ideas to a wide range of audiences including clients, architects, contractors and in-house teams.
Compensation is commensurate with experience
