About this role
Position: Technical Program Manager
Years of Experience: 6+ Years
Location: Mountain View, California
About Vayavya Labs
Vayavya Labs builds embedded software and firmware for the semiconductor and automotive industries, with deep expertise in low-level device software, driver automation, and safety-critical systems. Our engineers work close to the metal — from silicon bring-up to production firmware — and increasingly at the compute and networking layer that connects autonomy software to the vehicle’s hardware platforms.
This is a role for a program leader who can turn that technical depth into predictable, well-coordinated delivery across two continents.
About the Role
We are looking for a Technical Program Manager to sit onsite at Aurora’s Mountain View office and run the day-to-day coordination between Aurora’s engineering stakeholders and Vayavya Labs’ offshore engineering team in India.
You will be the connective tissue for our embedded software, firmware, and vehicle compute & networking engagements — in the room with Aurora during US day time, and on the line with our India-based engineers during the overlap window, so that priorities, requirements, and technical direction move cleanly in both directions.
This is a hands-on program management role for someone who is technical enough to earn trust with engineering leadership on both sides, and organized enough to keep a distributed, cross-timezone program on schedule.
What You’ll Do
- Work onsite from Aurora’s Mountain View office, serving as Vayavya Labs’ embedded program lead and primary point of daily coordination with Aurora’s engineering and program stakeholders during US business hours.
- Serve as the single point of coordination between Aurora and Vayavya Labs’ offshore engineering team in India, running the overlap-hours cadence — standups, syncs, and handoffs — that keeps both sides moving in step.
- Own end-to-end program planning across firmware, embedded software, and vehicle compute/networking workstreams: schedules, milestones, staffing, and dependency tracking.
- Translate Aurora’s requirements, priorities, and technical direction into actionable execution plans for the offshore engineering team, and translate offshore progress and blockers back to Aurora in terms its stakeholders can act on.
- Drive risk and issue management — surface schedule and technical risks early, drive mitigation plans, and escalate cleanly across both organizations.
- Run agile ceremonies (sprint planning, backlog grooming, retrospectives) that span the onsite/offshore split, adapting cadences to the time-zone gap between Mountain View and India.
- Own program-level status reporting and metrics for Aurora and Vayavya Labs leadership — burn-down, milestone health, risk registers, and staffing.
- Involve in publishing Development and Test matrix coverage, open failures by severity and owner, triage backlog activities
- Involve in providing the inputs for Program performance review for Executive Sponsor, Aurora manager, Account director with KPI performance against agreed targets, staffing, risk register
- Coordinate cross-functional dependencies with Aurora’s hardware, test, and platform teams for on-target diagnostics, HIL testing, and CAN/Ethernet communication-bus validation work delivered by the offshore team.
- Manage onboarding, access, and compliance logistics for offshore engineers working against Aurora’s environment and codebase.
- Build credibility with Aurora’s engineering leadership as a technical peer — fluent enough in embedded systems, Linux, and vehicle networking to represent the offshore team’s work accurately, not just relay status.
What You’ll Bring
- 6+ years of experience in technical program management, delivery management, or a related engineering leadership role, including programs spanning onsite/offshore or distributed teams.
- Working technical fluency in embedded software/firmware, Linux systems, and vehicle networking (CAN, Ethernet, TCP/UDP) sufficient to engage credibly with engineers and client stakeholders on technical tradeoffs.
- Proven experience running cross-timezone engagements — comfortable structuring overlap windows, async handoffs, and escalation paths between US and India-based teams.
- Strong program management fundamentals: schedule and risk management, resourcing, dependency tracking, and status reporting to both engineering and executive audiences.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills — able to represent an offshore delivery team’s work to an onsite client, and an onsite client’s priorities back to the offshore team, without losing nuance.
- Experience with agile/scrum delivery in a distributed engineering setting.
- Willingness to work onsite at Aurora’s Mountain View office daily, with flexibility to overlap into India business hours as needed for handoffs and escalations.
Nice to Have
- Prior experience in automotive, autonomous vehicle, or other safety-critical embedded systems programs.
- Familiarity with functional safety program structures such as ISO 26262.
- Experience with Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing programs, hardware bring-up schedules, or fleet-level engineering programs.
- PMP, PMI-ACP, or an equivalent program/project management certification.
- Experience managing engagements with a semiconductor or Tier-1 automotive client.
Why Join Us
You’ll be the person who makes a two-continent engineering program actually work — onsite with Aurora in Mountain View during the day, and in step with our engineering team in India the rest of the time. It’s a role for a program leader who wants ownership over how a complex, safety-critical vehicle compute program ships, and the trust of both a marquee autonomy client and a strong offshore engineering bench.
