About this role

Company Description Unlocking Potential Therapies, LLC (UP) is a mental health-focused occupational therapy practice founded in January 2025 by partners Rachel Dowdy and Victoria Baker, both registered and licensed occupational therapists. The practice specializes in serving adolescents in Ohio who are involved in the juvenile justice system, providing skilled and evidence-informed occupational therapy services.

UP builds on the legacy and guidance of mentors and leaders from ABC Therapies, Inc., a long-standing organization with deep experience in juvenile-justice practice. The company is committed to addressing mental and behavioral health needs and supporting youth in building functional, adaptive skills for daily life and community participation.

Role Description This full-time or part time, on-site Occupational Therapist role is based in Ohio, United States. Locations available in Columbus, Cleveland and Dayton. The Occupational Therapist will provide individualized assessments, develop client-centered treatment plans, and deliver direct intervention to adolescents involved in the juvenile justice system.

Daily tasks include collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, documenting services and progress, and communicating with families, caregivers, and relevant community partners. The role also involves participating in case conferences, contributing to program development, and maintaining compliance with professional, legal, and ethical standards.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess strong skills in Occupational Therapy and Rehabilitation, with experience or interest in mental/behavioral health and juvenile justice settings.
  • Candidates should possess foundational knowledge in mental health, development and trauma-wise practices to support safe, evidence-based practice.
  • Candidates should possess effective Communication skills for working with adolescents, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Current registration and licensure (or eligibility) as an Occupational Therapist in the state of Ohio.
  • Ability to develop and implement trauma-informed, culturally responsive interventions.
  • Strong documentation, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Master’s degree (or higher) in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Previous experience in mental/behavioral health, school-based, or correctional/juvenile justice environments is preferred.
