Java Full Stack Architect – Payments

Location: Quincy, MA / Boston, MA

Work Mode: Hybrid – 3 to 4 days/week onsite

Responsibilities]]

Design and build a transaction lifecycle tracking and monitoring platform from the ground up.

Architect scalable solutions using the Elastic Stack, including data modeling, index design, ingestion pipelines, search, and analytics.

Design and implement Elasticsearch clusters, indexing strategies, mappings, and performance optimization.

Develop real-time Kibana dashboards and visualizations for transaction monitoring, exception tracking, bottleneck analysis, and SLA management.

Define standard APIs, integration patterns, and reusable onboarding frameworks for multiple applications.

Design workflow and exception-handling capabilities, including automated alerts and work-item creation.

Integrate multiple upstream and downstream systems using APIs, Kafka, MQ, and event streams.

Ensure solutions meet requirements for scalability, high availability, performance, security, and data retention compliance.

Work with relational and NoSQL databases to support high-volume transaction processing.

Lead architecture and technical design decisions across engineering teams.

Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentorship to developers.

Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to define requirements and architecture.

Lead Agile delivery processes and promote continuous improvement.

Support financial performance management, including budgets, forecasts, and margins.

Manage workforce planning, resource allocation, and vendor coordination as required.

Apply enterprise architecture and program architecture best practices.

Ensure adherence to project governance, security, regulatory, and compliance standards.

Must-Have Skills

Strong hands-on experience with Java and enterprise application development.

Deep hands-on expertise with Elasticsearch and ELK Stack, including

Cluster sizing

Performance tuning

Mappings

Indexing strategies

Ingest pipelines

Kibana

Experience building high-volume event tracking, transaction monitoring, order tracking, trade lifecycle, or transaction lifecycle management systems.

Strong architecture experience with distributed, event-driven, and microservices-based systems.

Hands-on development experience with Java, Python, or similar technologies.

Strong experience with relational and NoSQL databases.

Experience integrating REST APIs, Kafka, MQ, event streams, and heterogeneous source systems.

Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.

Strong understanding of enterprise integration, scalability, security, and high availability.

Experience in Payments, Trade Finance, Banking, or Financial Services is highly preferred.

Strong technical leadership, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
