Job description

About this role

The Mom Project is excited to partner with our client, Etsy, in their search for a contract Product Designer!

About The Team

BuyerX brings together the experiences that help buyers discover, evaluate, purchase, and continue engaging with the unique items and people they find on Etsy. Depending on team needs, your work may focus on areas such as Listings, Landings, Post-Purchase, or Conversations & Co-Creation.

This is hybrid role in Brooklyn, NY working 2x/week onsite ( Tuesdays required + Wednesday or Thursday as the second onsite day). This is a full-time role reporting to the Senior Manager of Product Design, Buyer X.

About The Role

You’ll partner closely with Product, Engineering, Research, Analytics, Content, Brand, and other Design partners to identify meaningful customer problems and turn them into clear, useful, and high-quality experiences. You’ll work from early discovery through launch and iteration—using research, data, prototyping, experimentation, and strong product judgment to improve the buyer journey.

This role is a great fit for a designer who can lead work independently, bring clarity to complex customer journeys, and balance thoughtful craft with the needs of a fast-moving, highly collaborative product team.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of professional experience working in product design, UX design, interaction design, or a related field.
  • A portfolio demonstrating shipped consumer product work and strong end-to-end design craft.
  • Strong foundations in visual hierarchy, interaction design, prototyping, accessibility, and the application of brand and design systems.
  • Experience designing complex flows and customer journeys, from early exploration through production and iteration.
  • The ability to communicate design rationale clearly through conversation, writing, storytelling, and visual artifacts.
  • A collaborative approach and the ability to give and receive feedback with kindness and candor.
  • Comfort with ambiguity, healthy curiosity, and a willingness to test assumptions.
  • A commitment to building inclusive experiences and contributing to a culture of motivation, optimism, quality, and integrity.
  • Experience working with quantitative and qualitative insights and translating them into design decisions.

Nice-to-Haves

Familiarity with native app and/or responsive web patterns; experience designing across platforms is a plus.
