About this role
Mission Systems Engineer – LEO Satellites
Location: Arlington, TX
Employment: Full-time, permanent
The Opportunity
An innovative and rapidly growing company operating at the forefront of the space industry is looking for an experienced Mission Systems Engineer to join its satellite engineering team.
This is an exciting opportunity to take technical ownership of systems engineering activities for next-generation Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite missions, supporting the development and delivery of advanced space-based communications technology.
The Role
You'll be responsible for leading mission-level systems engineering activities, working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams across spacecraft, payload, ground systems and communications.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead systems engineering activities for LEO satellite missions, from initial requirements through to integration, testing and delivery.
- Own mission requirements, system interfaces, verification and validation activities.
- Develop and manage Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and ensure requirements traceability and compliance.
- Support spacecraft Assembly, Integration & Test (AI&T) activities, including environmental testing and system-level verification.
- Coordinate with engineering teams across spacecraft bus, payload, RF/communications and ground systems.
- Act as a key technical interface with government customers, supporting technical reviews and program milestones.
The ideal candidate:
- Previous experience in the space industry is essential, ideally working on satellite or spacecraft systems engineering.
- Strong systems engineering experience, ideally 8+ years across complex space or satellite programs.
- Experience with requirements management, system architecture, interface control and verification & validation.
- Experience supporting satellite development programs through design, integration, testing and delivery.
- Familiarity with systems engineering tools and methodologies, including MBSE, DOORS, Cameo or SysML, would be beneficial.
- Previous experience working on US government space or satellite programs is highly desirable.
- Ability to obtain a US security clearance, where required.
Experience working on LEO satellite constellations would be particularly desirable, although candidates with broader spacecraft or satellite systems engineering experience are encouraged to apply.
What's in it for you?
You'll be joining an ambitious engineering team developing advanced satellite technology, with the opportunity to take genuine technical ownership of complex space missions. The position offers exposure to the full satellite development lifecycle, from early-stage requirements and system architecture through to integration, testing and operational delivery.
