GENERAL JOB DISCRIPTION:
The Embedded Software & Electronics Engineer plays a critical role in developing, testing, and refining the software, firmware, and electronics that control our baseball, softball, and multi-sport pitching machines. This position focuses on new software development, existing software updates and maintenance, HMI, app maintenance and development, and associated electronics development.
RESPONSIBILITIES
:
- Software/Firmware Development:
Develop and maintain software and embedded firmware (C/C++) for pitching machine controllers, remote controls, and user interfaces, including wireless or app connectivity where needed.
- Motor Control & Pitch Performance:
Control and tune motor drives for wheel speed, pitch type, and consistent ball delivery.
- Electronics Design:
Design and revise PCBs, wiring harnesses, and power electronics for AC-powered and battery-powered machines.
- Prototyping & Validation:
Build and run test fixtures to validate speed accuracy, repeatability, and durability; analyze performance data; and resolve issues to meet quality standards.
- Documentation & Manufacturing Support:
Maintain schematics, firmware release notes, and work instructions; support safety and compliance testing (UL/CE/FCC or equivalent); and work with production and suppliers to move designs into manufacturing.
- Continuous Improvement:
Troubleshoot field returns and production issues, find root causes, and drive improvements using data-driven decision-making.
REQUIREMENTS

Education:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Firmware Proficiency:
Strong experience with embedded C/C++ on microcontrollers (ARM Cortex-M, STM32, or similar) and common interfaces such as UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, and ADC.

Technical Expertise:
Experience with motor control (BLDC, brushed DC, or AC drives), including PWM and closed-loop speed control, and the ability to read schematics and debug hardware and firmware together with an oscilloscope and multimeter.

Communication & Problem-Solving:
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and collaborate with mechanical, production, and quality teams.

Preferred Skills:
PCB design (Altium, KiCad, or Eagle); battery management and charging; Bluetooth/BLE or Wi-Fi and app integration; product certification; RTOS, bootloaders, and over-the-air updates. Familiarty with Debian, Yocto, and Embedded Linux development.
EXPERIENCE
- 3+ years of embedded firmware development in a product engineering role.
- Sports equipment, robotics, or electromechanical product experience is strongly preferred.
