About this role

About the Firm

Headquartered in Woburn, Massachusetts, an extension of Boston's innovation corridor, Samper Law delivers bespoke legal strategy to scaling enterprises, global talent and private clients across the country and around the world. We provide sophisticated advocacy for clients navigating complex immigration mobility, civil litigation and private legal matters.

Our approach transcends traditional legal advice; we act as dedicated partners to secure legacies. The firm is known for zealous representation, integrity and the sophisticated handling of high stakes cases, within an environment that demands professional rigor and rewards high performance.

The Role

We are seeking an accomplished trial attorney to lead the firm's most consequential matters and help drive its growth. The Lead Associate Attorney owns a robust docket of high stakes, high value cases, taking contested civil claims from investigation and pleadings through discovery, expert work, mediation and trial, and delivering significant results for the clients we represent.

This role is built for a litigator with a record of complex, aggressively defended cases and the appetite to build a practice. Equally important is the capacity to handle sophisticated immigration matters, including business immigration and exceptional self petitions; immigration experience is a strong advantage, and the firm will support a proven litigator in developing it.

Candidates earlier in their careers may be considered at the Junior Associate Attorney II level.

Core Responsibilities

  • High stakes litigation: Lead complex, high value civil matters from case evaluation and investigation through pleadings, written and expert discovery, depositions, dispositive motions, mediation and trial.
  • Trial and courtroom advocacy: Serve as first chair in state and federal court; argue motions, examine witnesses and present cases to judges and juries.
  • Case valuation and resolution: Assess liability and damages, build the evidentiary record with experts, and negotiate settlements that maximize recovery for our clients.
  • Complex immigration matters: Handle sophisticated immigration work, including federal court immigration litigation (mandamus, habeas, petitions for review), contested EOIR hearings and BIA appeals.
  • Business immigration and exceptional self petitions: Lead the firm's EB-1A, EB-2 NIW, O-1 and EB-1C matters and corporate immigration for employers and investors, crafting case strategy and evidence for founders, executives, researchers and other exceptional talent.
  • Business development: Originate new clients and matters, cultivate referral sources and professional relationships, and represent the firm in professional and community settings.
  • Sophisticated clientele: Serve as lead counsel and trusted advisor to individuals, families, executives and businesses facing high stakes legal challenges.
  • Case strategy and quality: Set strategy on difficult matters and raise the standard of the firm's legal work product.
  • Mentorship: Oversee and mentor junior attorneys and staff on the matters you lead, sharing expertise and guiding their professional growth.
  • Consultations: Lead strategic consultations and convert prospective clients into engaged clients.

Professional Standards & Expectations

  • Mission focused dedication: We value results, thoroughness and dedication over mere attendance.
  • Operational discipline: Respect for the firm's structure and strict adherence to our protocols.
  • Operational agility: Excel under pressure with superior time management.
  • Professional focus: An unwavering professional demeanor that puts clients and the firm's mission first.

Candidate Profile

  • License: Admitted and in good standing in any U.S. jurisdiction; Massachusetts admission is preferred.
  • Litigation experience: 5 or more years of civil litigation focused on high stakes, high value or complex matters, with substantial deposition, motion and trial experience.
  • Results: A record of significant verdicts, settlements or case outcomes.
  • Immigration: Experience in business immigration and self petitions (EB-1A, EB-2 NIW, O-1), removal defense or federal immigration litigation is strongly preferred; demonstrated capacity and commitment to build this practice is required.
  • Business development: A record of originating clients or building referral relationships is a significant plus.
  • Languages: Fluency in Spanish or Portuguese is a plus.
  • Attributes: Independent judgment, persuasive writing, executive presence and the tenacity that complex cases demand.

  • Paid time off that grows with tenure, plus paid firm holidays and your birthday off
  • Performance based incentives for productivity, efficiency and contribution to the firm
