About this role

About the Firm

Headquartered in Woburn, Massachusetts, an extension of Boston's innovation corridor, Samper Law delivers bespoke legal strategy to scaling enterprises, global talent and private clients across the country and around the world. We provide sophisticated advocacy for clients navigating complex immigration mobility, civil litigation and private legal matters.

Our approach transcends traditional legal advice; we act as dedicated partners to secure legacies. The firm is known for zealous representation, integrity and the sophisticated handling of high stakes cases, within an environment that demands professional rigor and rewards high performance.

The Role

We are seeking a driven Junior Associate Attorney to join our immigration practice. This is a launch position for an attorney early in their career who wants real courtroom and agency experience from the start, working directly with our senior team on a high volume of varied and complex matters.

You will grow quickly here: our caseload spans removal defense, humanitarian relief, family and employment based immigration, giving you the breadth to become a well rounded immigration practitioner.

Core Responsibilities

  • Court and agency representation: Appear before the Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR) in master and individual hearings, and represent clients at USCIS interviews.
  • Removal defense and relief: Prepare asylum, withholding, cancellation of removal, stays, motions to reopen, prosecutorial discretion requests and appeals to the Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Affirmative filings: Prepare and review family based petitions, adjustment of status, waivers, SIJ, VAWA, U and T visas, TPS and naturalization.
  • Business immigration and self petitions: Prepare employment based and extraordinary ability matters, including EB-1A, EB-2 NIW and O-1 petitions, as well as H-1B, L-1 and other nonimmigrant visas, building persuasive evidence packages and expert letters.
  • Client counsel: Conduct consultations and client interviews, issue spot, advise on options and manage client expectations with clarity and empathy.
  • Detention work: Visit clients at ICE and state or federal detention facilities.
  • Legal research and writing: Draft briefs, motions, declarations, legal memoranda and RFE responses.
  • Case management: Supervise paralegal work product, monitor deadlines and keep matters moving in Clio.
  • Cross practice support: Assist in civil litigation, family and criminal matters as needed; this exposure is valued, not required.

Professional Standards & Expectations

  • Mission focused dedication: We value results, thoroughness and dedication over mere attendance.
  • Operational discipline: Respect for the firm's structure and strict adherence to our protocols.
  • Operational agility: Excel under pressure with superior time management.
  • Professional focus: An unwavering professional demeanor that puts clients and the firm's mission first.

Candidate Profile

  • License: Admitted and in good standing in any U.S. jurisdiction, or awaiting admission after passing the bar exam. Massachusetts admission is preferred.
  • Education: Juris Doctor.
  • Experience: 0 to 2 years of practice. Immigration clinic, externship, judicial clerkship or immigration paralegal experience is strongly preferred; exposure to business immigration or EB-1A and NIW petitions is a plus.
  • Languages: Fluency in Spanish or Portuguese is strongly preferred.
  • Attributes: Courtroom ready poise, strong writing, sound judgment and the discipline to manage a full caseload.

Benefits

  • Retirement plan with employer matching on your participation
  • Health, dental and vision insurance
  • Paid time off that grows with tenure, plus paid firm holidays and your birthday off
  • Performance based incentives for productivity, efficiency and contribution to the firm
  • Professional development, including mentorship and CLE support for attorneys
  • On site gym at our Woburn office

Work Arrangement

This is a full time, in person position at our Woburn office. Over time, team members who demonstrate consistent performance may earn eligibility for hybrid flexibility.
