Design + Remodel (RKC) is an Inc. 5000 design-build remodeling firm serving the Kansas City metro. We started in 2020 and have grown to a team of 30+ designers, project managers, construction managers, and in-house field crew.

Because design and construction live under one roof, our designers follow their work from the first client meeting to the final walkthrough.

The Role

We’re looking for a Senior Interior Designer to lead a design team and own a portfolio of our larger projects, including whole-home renovations, additions, kitchens, and lower levels. You’ll guide clients through our full process: discovery, layout, concept design presentation, selections, and handoff to a fixed-price construction contract. You’ll also mentor designers and junior designers along the way.

This is a leadership seat for someone who loves design and understands how it gets built.

What You’ll Do

• Lead client meetings to understand goals, lifestyle, and budget, then translate them into a clear design direction
• Develop and present layouts, concept presentations, mood boards, and 3D renderings
• Select and specify finishes, fixtures, cabinetry, and materials
• Produce construction-ready drawings and selection sheets that hold up in the field
• Partner with project management, procurement, and construction so design intent carries through to completion
• Visit job sites to resolve issues and protect quality and client experience
• Manage multiple projects, timelines, and budgets at once
• Mentor and develop designers and junior designers on your team
• Build lasting client relationships, since much of our work comes from repeat clients and referrals

What You Bring

• 5+ years of residential interior design experience, with remodeling or design-build strongly preferred
• Degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
• Expert proficiency in Chief Architect and SketchUp, plus Adobe Creative Suite
• Strong working knowledge of construction methods, materials, and building systems
• Confident, polished client presentations and communication
• Experience leading or mentoring other designers
• Organized, detail-driven, and steady under multiple deadlines
• A creative eye paired with practical, budget-aware problem-solving

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
