Job Summary: The Software Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, testing, deploying, and maintaining Oracle PL/SQL solutions that support critical business applications and large-scale enterprise initiatives.
This role serves as a technical expert throughout the software development life cycle, working closely with application development teams, business stakeholders, and Oracle Fusion Financials integrations to deliver high-quality, scalable solutions.
Strong experience with Oracle databases, SQL and PL/SQL development, systems integration, Linux and Windows scripting, and collaboration tools such as Jira are essential for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities & Duties:
- Design, develop, deploy, and maintain Oracle PL/SQL procedures / packages for large-scale projects. (50%)
o Utilize hybrid agile, iterative SDLC methodology.
o Responsible for the design, development, documentation of new and existing software systems and/or applications
o Serve as technical expert on development projects
o Participate in full development life cycle including requirements analysis and design.
o Work on integrations between Oracle custom databases and Oracle Fusion Financials Applications
o Review Linux shell scripts, Windows scripts and make necessary changes required for the process
o Use SQL Plus, SQL Loader, SQL Navigator or Toad as needed to deliver the objects needed.
- Write and execute unit test cases for the PL/SQL stored procedures/packages. (10%)
o Create documentation for test case scenarios.
o Make sure all test cases are documented with appropriate input and output parameters and values as per the standards defined.
- Debug, optimize, and performance tune SQL, PLSQL packages for improving performance. (15%)
o Analyze the programs with performance degradation and tune based on Indexing, profiling and tracing mechanisms and apply necessary techniques.
o Test programs with high volume of data and make sure it is tested before it was moved to production
- Work with Application Development team to enhance the code base of PL/SQL packages to fix production issues and/or build new functionality. (15%)
o Work with application development team and business users to resolve issues
o Attend daily stand up meetings to discuss the issues and project/tasks progress.
o Use Jira to effectively track the change requests and projects.
- Participate in code reviews and ensure the code written complies with company and client standard and best practices and provide improvement feedback to developers. (10%)
o Doing code reviews for Peers and subordinates and attend daily stand up meetings to discuss the issues and project/tasks progress.
o Make sure all code written is meeting Project guidelines, standards and specifications
o Review to make sure naming conventions and standard practices are followed and provide recommendations to change the process as needed.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5+ years of experience in software development with a strong focus on Oracle database technologies.
- Proven experience developing, maintaining, and supporting Oracle PL/SQL procedures, packages, functions, triggers, and database objects.
- Experience integrating Oracle databases with enterprise applications, including Oracle Fusion Financials.
- Hands-on experience working within Agile or hybrid Agile software development environments.
- Experience using Jira or similar tools for project tracking, issue management, and change requests.
- Strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, deployment, and production support.
