About this role
Sets enterprise product direction for a large product portfolio or product function, ensuring alignment with Navy Federal's strategic priorities, business objectives, member needs, risk tolerance, and long-term roadmap. Leads cross-functional product strategy and execution across multiple teams, establishing priorities, governance, and consistent delivery practices.
Partners with senior leadership and stakeholders to shape product priorities, influence strategic direction, and deliver complex, high-impact product outcomes. Develops leadership capability, manages resources, and builds a strong talent pipeline. This role typically reports to an AVP or VP level executive.
Responsibilities
- Sets and leads enterprise product strategy for a large product portfolio or product function aligned with business priorities, stakeholder needs, and long-term objectives.
- Provides strategic direction, governance, and prioritization across multiple product teams, initiatives, and roadmaps.
- Partners with senior leadership to shape product priorities, influence strategic direction, and align execution across teams and functions. Builds and sustains strong partnerships across business units, technology, operations, risk, compliance, and other key stakeholders.
- Directs the development, implementation, and support of self-directed and managed investment and financial advisor-integrated digital experiences.
- Applies deep understanding of business objectives, member needs, and risk tolerance to guide portfolio decisions and investment tradeoffs.
- Ensures research, data, and insights are effectively leveraged to inform product strategy, roadmap direction, and business outcomes.
- Anticipates, manages, and mitigates complex risks across product initiatives, dependencies, and implementation plans.
- Establishes consistency in product delivery practices, governance, and decision-making across teams.
- Represents product portfolio needs, risks, and outcomes in senior leadership discussions.
- Communicates strategic direction, business impacts, risks, and progress to senior leaders and executive stakeholders.
- Leads change management efforts with broader organizational impact tied to product transformation or portfolio priorities.
- Manages resources, develops leadership capability, and builds a strong talent pipeline through coaching, mentoring, and stretch assignments.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Technology, Information Systems, Product Management, or a related field, or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- 12+ years of progressively responsible experience in product management, product strategy, business management, financial services, or related field.
- 8+ years of people leadership experience; or equivalent experience as a recognized subject matter expert leading large-scale product portfolios or enterprise product initiatives.
- Proven leadership experience managing teams and/or leaders with responsibility for performance, delivery, and outcomes across a product function or portfolio.
- Extensive experience working in structured product, project, or portfolio delivery environments across multiple initiatives.
- Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and guide strategic product decisions in complex, cross functional environments.
- Expert ability to leverage data, research, and insights to inform strategy, priorities, investment decisions, and outcomes.
- Deep understanding of how processes, systems, risk, compliance, and organizational dynamics support business outcomes.
- Ability to work through highly complex or ambiguous problems and lead resolution at a functional or portfolio level.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex information clearly to senior leadership and key stakeholders.
- Exceptional collaboration and teamwork, with the ability to influence across teams, functions, and senior stakeholders.
- Expert strategic thinking, product judgment, and enterprise prioritization across multiple teams, initiatives, and long-term objectives.
- Advanced analytical thinking and ability to translate data, research, and insights into strategic direction.

Desired Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Business, Finance, Technology, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Extensive knowledge of financial, brokerage, investment, and insurance products, services, policies, and procedures.
- Experience leading digital product strategy, development, and delivery within FinTech or technology-enabled financial services organizations, including digital investing, wealth management, banking, insurance, or advisor-supported platforms.
- Familiarity with credit union/CUSO organizations, principles, and related functions.
- Working knowledge of Navy Federal project development processes and applications.
- FINRA Series 7 and 24 registrations, or the ability to complete required registrations within one year of employment.
