About this role

How We

Work. MCBID is a small team with a large footprint, and it succeeds only when its people work as one. Every role here is expected to share information freely, step in across functions when the work calls for it, and treat a colleague's success as part of their own.

Titles define where accountability sits. They do not define the limits of anyone's contribution.

Overview of Role

The Marketing Coordinator keeps the BID's public channels moving. Working under the Marketing & DMO Director, the Coordinator turns strategy into posts, emails, web updates, and event promotion for both Montclair Center and Experience Montclair, and captures the district as it happens. It's a hands-on role for someone who loves downtown and can write a caption, build an email, and shoot a decent photo in the same afternoon.

Duties and Responsibilities

SOCIAL MEDIA

● Schedule and publish content across MCBID and Experience Montclair channels, following a cocreated content calendar.

● Manage the channels day to day: reply to all comments and messages, and flag issues to the Director.

● Capture photo and video for daily content, at the Directors direction, at events, and generally around the district.

EMAIL AND WEB

● Build and send public email newsletter campaigns and blasts. Stakeholder emails are handled by the Community & Operations Manager.

● Keep the public email list clean and the platform in good order.

● Update marketing content on the BID and Experience Montclair websites in coordination with the Community & Operations Manager.

● Post events and BID information to outside listing sites, including NJ tourism platforms.

EVENT PROMOTION

● Produce promotional assets and posting schedules for BID events. Take direction from the AD on event promotion and from the Director on brand.

CONTENT AND ASSETS

● Draft copy and create graphics for campaigns within brand standards.

● Maintain the BID's photo and asset library.

● Coordinate asset delivery with contracted creative partners, as directed.

REPORTING AND GRANT DOCUMENTATION

● Track engagement and campaign results, and prepare monthly analytics reports for the Director.

● Record hours accurately by task, keeping DMO work separate.

ETHICS

● Adhere to the Corporation's Conflict of Interest Policy (By-Laws §9.04). Disclose promptly to the Executive Director any personal interest in a matter the Coordinator is working on.

Additional duties and responsibilities, as requested by the Marketing & DMO Director or Executive Director.

Qualifications:

● 1 to 3 years of experience in social media, marketing, communications, journalism, or content

creation, or a portfolio that shows it. A degree is a plus.

● A strong writer with a good eye. Proficient in Canva. Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.

● Comfortable with email platforms (Mailchimp, Constant Contact), social scheduling tools, and

website content management systems.

● Shoots good photo and video on a phone.

● Organized and deadline-driven. Able to take direction from two leads without dropping either.

● Genuine enthusiasm for Montclair Center and the businesses that make it.

● A customer service-oriented attitude and approach is paramount.

● Attendance at some evening and weekend events is required.

● If not all, but most of these qualifications speak to you, please don't hesitate to reach out. We understand that not everything translates directly from a piece of paper, and we're willing to get creative for the right fit.

Representing over 450 businesses and over 200 property owners in downtown Montclair, the Montclair

Center BID is directly responsible for the music performances, beautification projects, including plants and decorations, banners, way-finding signage and maintenance throughout the district.

By encouraging dynamic collaboration, the Montclair Center BID also creates exciting events for shoppers and tourists, marketing opportunities for retailers and restaurateurs, and actively seeks to improve the area for businesses and residents. For more information, visit montclaircenter.com
