Mango Product Development is looking for a maker who isn’t satisfied making just one.

We’re a product design and engineering consulting firm. Our engineers take client products from a sketch and a 3D print all the way to tooling, a factory, and millions of units on shelves. If you love building things with your hands but the part that really gets you is figuring out how to make the ten-thousandth one as good as the first — that’s the job.

We’re looking for someone who truly loves to learn and gets excited about deeply understanding how things work in order to make them better.

Role & Responsibilities

• Develop new product designs and solutions using CAD software (SolidWorks or Onshape)
• Take designs from concept through DFM, tooling, and production — not just to a working prototype
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout the full product development cycle
• Conduct analysis, research, and testing to optimize designs and solve complex engineering challenges
• Build and test prototypes, fixtures, and hardware to validate designs
• Create technical documentation, models, renderings, and presentations
• Work directly with clients — present your work, explain your reasoning, and help steer the direction of their products

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field
• Minimum 3 years of experience in product design and development
• Extensive experience with CAD software (SolidWorks or Onshape)
• Hands-on experience taking a product from concept into volume production
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint

Preferred Skills

• Experience with microcontrollers (Arduino) and coding
• Background in electrical engineering
• Knowledge of data science principles and applications

• You're going to ask about salary band, and this position is looking engineers from 3-20 years of experience. That band is WIDE, so putting a number here doesn't help too much. Our goal is that you are happy and motivated at work, and the number on your check will play a large role in that.

We also care about whether you’re satisfied with what you’re actually doing here day to day — the problems you’re working on, what you’re learning, how much ownership you have. Compensation is the easy part to get right. We’d like to get the rest right too.

This role is based on-site at our Boston-area space, with occasional time at client sites.
