Job description

About this role

M3 Technical Solutions Inc. (M3TS) is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to support a U.S. Army program in Huntsville, Alabama.

This position will support the development and integration of advanced systems involving radio frequency (RF), electro-optical/laser, communications, and space-related technologies.

The Systems Engineer will work across technical disciplines to translate mission and program needs into well-defined system and subsystem requirements, maintain requirements traceability, evaluate system interfaces, and support integration and verification activities.

We are looking for an engineer who understands not only how to document requirements, but why a requirement exists, how it decomposes across the system, which interfaces it affects, and how the team ultimately verifies that the requirement has been satisfied.

Anticipated Start Date

November 15, 2026 Salary Range: $150,000 - $190,000 annually Travel: Up to 10%, with limited travel anticipated Clearance: Active Top Secret U.S. Government security clearance required

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, analyze, decompose, allocate, and maintain system and subsystem requirements.
  • Establish and maintain bidirectional requirements traceability from mission and operational needs through system design, implementation, integration, and verification.
  • Develop and maintain requirements documentation, traceability matrices, interface definitions, and other systems-engineering artifacts.
  • Evaluate system architectures, functional relationships, dependencies, and interfaces across RF, electro-optical/laser, communications, ground, and space-related system elements.
  • Work with technical subject matter experts to translate RF, optical, communications, and space-domain inputs into actionable system requirements.
  • Support development and maintenance of Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and other interface-management documentation.
  • Participate in system architecture development, technical interchange meetings, engineering working groups, design reviews, and other technical reviews.
  • Support hardware, software, and subsystem integration and identify requirements, interface, and technical risks affecting system performance.
  • Develop verification approaches and maintain traceability between requirements and verification evidence.
  • Support integration and test planning, execution, and analysis of results against established requirements.
  • Identify requirements gaps, conflicts, dependencies, and technical risks and develop recommendations for resolution.
  • Support configuration management and maintenance of technical baselines as designs and requirements evolve.
  • Coordinate with Government engineers, program managers, developers, integration teams, test organizations, and other technical stakeholders.
  • Develop technical briefings, engineering analyses, trade studies, decision-support products, and supporting technical documentation.

Required Qualifications

Active Top Secret U.S. Government security clearance. Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related technical discipline.

Minimum 5 years of relevant systems-engineering experience supporting complex technical systems. Demonstrated experience with requirements development, decomposition, allocation, and traceability. Experience developing or maintaining system-level and subsystem-level technical requirements.

Experience supporting system architecture, interface definition, integration, verification, and/or test activities. Ability to understand and coordinate technical requirements across multiple engineering disciplines. Familiarity with systems-engineering lifecycle processes and technical-baseline management.

Experience developing technical documentation and communicating complex engineering issues to technical and programmatic stakeholders. Experience supporting Department of Defense, other U.S. Government, aerospace, or similarly complex technical programs.

Strong analytical, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills. Ability to support work from a KBR facility in the Huntsville area and/or remotely based on program requirements. Highly Desired Qualifications 10+ years of relevant systems-engineering experience.

Experience with RF systems, satellite communications, space systems, electro-optical systems, laser systems, directed energy, or related technologies. Experience integrating terrestrial systems with space-based platforms, communications systems, or space architectures. Familiarity with RF propagation, link budgets, antennas, waveforms, signal processing, or electromagnetic-spectrum concepts.

Familiarity with electro-optical or laser communications/sensing technologies. Experience with requirements-management tools such as IBM DOORS/DOORS Next, Jama, Cameo, or similar tools. Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), SysML, system architectures, functional architectures, or system-interface modeling.

Experience with requirements verification and validation, integration testing, developmental testing, or operational testing. Experience identifying and managing technical risks, requirements changes, and engineering dependencies. Familiarity with DoD acquisition, systems engineering, RDT&E, or rapid-prototyping environments.

Previous experience supporting U.S. Army, space, missile-defense, or advanced-technology programs.

Compensation

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $150,000 to $190,000 per year, depending on qualifications, relevant experience, technical expertise, and alignment with program requirements. Full-time M3TS employees are eligible to participate in applicable company benefits and leave programs in accordance with governing plan documents and company policies.
