Staff Accountant

Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our CPA firm. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for assisting with various accounting tasks, including data entry, bank reconciliations, financial analysis, payroll processing, sales tax processing, tax return preparation, and other tax documents required by state and federal regulations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review individual, corporate, partnership, estate, and trust income tax returns.
• Gather, organize, and analyze client tax information and financial records.
• Prepare, analyze, and record journal entries, ensuring accuracy in the general ledger and adherence to accounting standards.
• Conduct balance sheet reconciliations and account analysis to verify the integrity of financial data.
• Process payrolls, payroll tax payments, and related federal and state filings
• Prepare Sales and Use tax returns.
• Other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in accounting, tax, or finance roles.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, with familiarity in technical accounting concepts and public accounting practices preferred.
• Proficiency with Easy Accounting or similar accounting software.
• Experience with Drake tax or similar tax software is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft products, including Excel, Outlook, Word
• Experience with account reconciliation, general ledger accounting, journal entries, and double-entry bookkeeping.
• Excellent numeracy skills combined with attention to detail and strong organizational abilities.
• Effective communication skills for customer service-oriented interactions and team collaboration.

Worksite

• In Office, Monday-Friday 9am-5pm
• Working hours may vary during tax season based on business needs and workload
• Additional hours, including evenings and weekends, may be required during peak tax preparation periods
