Associate General Counsel - Hedge Fund

About the Opportunity A leading investment management firm is seeking an Associate General Counsel to join its growing legal team. This individual will play a key role in advising the business on a broad range of legal, regulatory, and strategic matters at the intersection of investment management, financial markets, and technology.

The position offers significant exposure to senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as a trusted legal advisor to business leaders on regulatory, operational, and strategic initiatives.
• Provide guidance on legal and regulatory matters impacting investment advisers, private funds, trading activities, and financial markets.
• Advise on issues arising at the intersection of technology and financial services, including emerging products, systems, and business initiatives.
• Partner with Compliance, Technology, Finance, Investor Relations, and senior management teams to identify and mitigate legal and business risks.
• Support the development and implementation of internal policies, governance frameworks, and risk management practices.
• Participate in business and product development discussions, providing practical legal guidance to support growth objectives.
• Assist with regulatory examinations, inquiries, investigations, and other legal matters as needed.
• Collaborate with legal colleagues on a wide range of investment management and corporate legal matters.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) and active bar membership in good standing.
• Approximately 8+ years of relevant legal experience.
• Experience advising investment advisers, private funds, asset managers, trading firms, fintech companies, exchanges, or other financial services organizations.
• Strong understanding of financial markets, regulatory frameworks, and evolving industry developments.
• Interest in emerging technologies and their application within financial services.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to provide practical, business-oriented legal advice in a fast-paced environment.
