About this role
Most people in pain never get the help they need. They’ve been told it’s part of getting older, or they tried something once and it didn’t work, so they stop looking. In this role, you’re the person who gives them hope and shows them a path forward.
Land and Sea Physical Therapy is a cash-pay clinic in Oceanside, CA. We work one-on-one with everyday athletes who want to get out of pain and get back to what they love.
Our mission is to provide the highest quality physical therapy, so we solve people’s problems instead of managing them. We’ve been voted best PT clinic in North County two years running.
We’re hiring a licensed PT to be the first conversation people have with our clinic. You’ll learn about each person's pain and what they want to get back to doing, then guide them toward the best next step for them, which is often working with us- though not always.
Along the way, you’ll help people understand the difference between high-quality PT and the rushed care many of them have had, and rethink common beliefs about pain, aging, and what their bodies are capable of.
Why PTs love this role
∙ You help people every day. Many callers have spent months or years believing nothing will help. Your conversation is often the moment they decide to do something about it.
∙ You use your clinical brain. You’ll reason through each caller’s story, help them see what has been missing with past attempts, and briefly explain what could be going on in a way they finally understand.
∙ You get to encourage people. Hearing someone go from “I guess I have to live with this” to “I’m so excited that I might be able to fix this” is the best part of the job.
∙ You skip the burnout. No more rushing through patients, no insurance battles, no commute.
∙ You build a rare skill. Most PTs never learn how to help people make decisions about their health through asking the right questions. Developing this communication skill through training with us and putting what we teach you into practice will make you not only a better PT, it will translate into more clear communication in every area of your life.
The basics
∙ 15 to 20 hours per week (to start)
∙ Fully remote
∙ Hourly base pay plus quality-based bonuses
∙ Room to grow with the clinic
About the sales side
Let's address the elephant in the room, this is considered a Sales Call. When most of us think of sales, we think of a greasy used car salesman and you might think that is what we want to turn you into.
That is NOT what we want (how we approach this). We want to empower people to make the right decision for themselves, whether that means working with us or not. Thats it.
Thats our entire goal.
Think of it as the most helpful conversation you’ve ever had with a patient. You don’t need a sales background. We train you on every piece of it: the call structure, our process, and how to help people make the right decision for themselves.
What we look for is a PT who’s curious about this side of the work and open to coaching.
Here’s what you do need
∙ To ask before you tell. You help people reach the right decision for themselves by asking good questions, not by lecturing them or trying to convince them.
∙ You’re comfortable challenging common beliefs about pain. People often say things like “my knee hurts because I’m getting older,” “I’ll see a chiropractor for my shoulder,” or “I’ll rest until it goes away.” To help people make the best decision for themselves, we have to be willing to address those beliefs with confidence and kindness.
∙ You stay are comfortable addressing concerns or doubts people have. Maybe they tried Physical Therapist before at a mill, it didn’t work, and because of that, they believe their pain comes from age. You calmly acknowledge their concerns, ask good questions, and help them see what’s possible.
∙ You listen for what matters to the person. You ask questions that help us understand the true motivations of each person. Whether it's daily hikes with their wife, the weekly golf round with friends, or playing with the grandkids.
∙ You’re coachable. You take feedback on a call and use it on the next one.
What you’ll do
∙ Complete scheduled calls with people who booked time through our ads and website. Every call is already on your calendar, so there’s no cold calling.
∙ Learn what hurts, what they’ve tried, and what they want to get back to doing
∙ Help them understand why past care didn’t work and what high-quality PT looks like
∙ Explain how we work and how it differs from the insurance-based PT most callers have had
∙ Empower people to take action and book their appointment
Requirements
∙ Physical therapy license
∙ A quiet workspace and reliable internet
Pay
∙ Base hourly rate
∙ Bonuses tied to the quality of your calls and the outcomes they produce, not call volume
∙ Strong performers earn well above the base
