About this role
Operations Manager – Commercial Painting Kaloutas, Inc. | Boston, MA & Surrounding Areas | Full-Time $75,000 – $90,000 depending on experience + company vehicle + bonus eligibility About Us Kaloutas is a commercial painting, industrial flooring and fireproofing contractor with offices across New England. We're growing, and we're looking for an experienced Operations Manager who knows painting and knows how to lead leaders.
The Role
As Operations Manager, you'll own operations for Boston and the surrounding areas and be responsible for every project in your region. Our Field Leaders run the crews day to day. Your job is to lead, support and develop those Field Leaders so every project is safe, profitable, on schedule and done right.
You'll work closely with Field Leaders, Foremen, estimating, project management, accounting, senior operations and our customers. Collaboration is a must. The right person builds strong partnerships, keeps everyone aligned, and knows that our results come from the people around them.
What You'll Do
- Own your region. Oversee all projects across the Greater Boston area from handoff to completion, keeping track of schedule, budget, quality and customer satisfaction across the whole portfolio.
- Lead and develop Field Leaders. Coach and mentor Field Leaders, and through them Foremen, on leadership, communication, quality, production and financial accountability.
- Plan and launch projects. Review handoff details, including scope, schedule, manpower, materials and budget. Lead handoff meetings with estimating and project teams, close scope gaps, and make sure each Field Leader starts every job with the resources they need.
- Plan manpower with your Field Leaders. Forecast staffing across your projects, keep scheduling tools current, answer manpower and timecard questions, and make sure every employee has work lined up for the week.
- Own the numbers. Track project budgets, labor hours, material usage and cost-to-complete reports. Review onsite production with Field Leaders and Foremen, and work with accounting and senior operations on job performance and profitability.
- Build customer relationships. Be the operations point of contact for GCs and superintendents. Make the first call to each jobsite, keep communication clear, and resolve issues before they escalate.
- Keep everyone aligned. Work with leadership on production metrics, forecasting and schedule changes, and keep project updates flowing through weekly one-on-ones.
- Drive safety and quality. Visit jobsites regularly, champion a safety-first culture, enforce OSHA and company standards, and work with senior operations to keep certifications and training current.
What We're Looking For
- Painting industry experience is required. Commercial experience is strongly preferred.
- A proven record of leading teams and coaching others, ideally leading other leaders
- A highly collaborative style, with the ability to build trust and work well with field and office teams alike
- Project management experience, with the ability to oversee multiple jobs and shifting schedules at once
- A solid understanding of budgets, job costing and labor productivity
- Strong communication skills, comfortable talking with both customers and internal teams
- Strong problem-solving skills and a calm, practical approach when issues come up
- Working knowledge of OSHA safety standards
- Comfort with email, scheduling and project tools (Smartsheet experience is a plus)
- Willingness to travel daily to jobsites across Greater Boston (company vehicle provided)
- A valid driver's license and a clean driving record
What We Offer
- Salary of $75,000 – $90,000, based on experience
- Company vehicle
- Eligibility for company bonuses
- Health, dental and vision insurance
- Life insurance
- 401(k) with company match
- Paid holidays
- A chance to grow with an established, expanding New England contractor
