The Client:

I’m partnering with a well-funded stealth AI startup building one of the first truly personal AI products designed to live entirely on your device, learning how you work, and executing tasks across your applications without sending your personal data to the cloud.

They’re now looking for a Machine Learning Research Engineer focused on the ML layer that enables the AI to intelligently execute actions and deliver highly personalized recommendations.

The opportunity:

• Build the ML and agent execution layer around an existing foundation model
• Develop systems for agentic execution, personalization, ranking and recommendations
• Own the ML science and pipelines from research through production
• Work with LLMs and potentially develop specialized ranking models
• Help shape a completely new consumer AI experience at an extremely early stage

What they’re looking for:

• Strong ML research + engineering background
• Experience with LLMs, recommender systems, personalization, ranking or agentic AI
• Strong Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning or a related field
• Ideally 7–10+ years of relevant industry experience
• Background in consumer AI/ML environments is particularly relevant
• On-device ML experience is a bonus, not a requirement

This is a high priority and high ownership role. The opportunity is to be one of the first movers in the space that truly is building a private personal AI with an exceptional team.
