We are seeking an experienced Sr. Research Data Analyst to support health economics and health services research projects led by faculty in the Department of Health Policy and Management. The Sr.

Research Data Analyst would contribute to a range of policy-relevant projects examining the health of older adults, mental health and substance use, value in the Medicare and Medicaid programs, health care affordability, and improving the value and quality of health care delivery.

This is an ideal role for people hoping to apply for a PhD in health economics or health services research, or people with significant experience and interest in applied academic research.

The Sr. Research Data Analyst will primarily be responsible for constructing analytic datasets from large administrative databases including health insurance claims, electronic health records (EHRs), employment records, and population survey data.

In addition, the Sr. Research Data Analyst may also work with more unstructured data sources such as clinical notes or business ownership records.

Candidates with experience implementing econometric research designs—including instrumental variables and difference-in-differences—as well as regression modeling are especially encouraged to apply. • Perform advanced data management and data linkage, including cleaning and integrating disparate datasets, fuzzy matching of individuals or organizations, geocoding of addresses.
  • Conduct data quality assessments and exploratory analyses using descriptive statistics, visualizations, and other diagnostic methods.
  • Implement statistical and econometric analyses under faculty guidance, including regression and quasi-experimental research designs such as instrumental variables and difference-in-differences.
  • Contribute to research products and dissemination, including preparing analytic results, tables, figures, documentation for presentations and manuscripts; analysts who make substantial intellectual contributions may have opportunities for co-authorship.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in a related field.
  • One year of related experience.
  • Highly specialized advanced knowledge, education and/or training in a specialized field of study to conduct research.
