Summary

-----------

As Product Manager for Internal Customer Apps, you are the single accountable owner of the internal customer-facing portfolio. You define the customer problem and the business opportunity, own the roadmap and the prioritization behind it, and answer for whether the tools actually move adoption, confidence, and conversion.

You will not manage sprints or write the architecture, and that boundary is deliberate: product ownership and IT own delivery and build, and you own what gets built and why it matters

What You’ll Do:

-------------------

Good internal tools start from the same discovery discipline as any external product. You are expected to spend real time with the people who use these tools and the customers they serve, and to bring evidence rather than requests into the roadmap conversation.

  • Conduct discovery with internal users, Sales, and Customer Experience to identify where the current tools fail.
  • Translate what you learn into clear problem statements, value cases, and success criteria.
  • Build the business case for investment and present it to the project management office and Finance for scope and value review.
  • Distinguish genuine customer problems from feature requests, and say no with a documented rationale.

You hold the roadmap for internal customer apps and the reasoning behind every sequencing decision. When Sales, Marketing, and Customer Experience want different things in the same quarter, you are the person who makes the tradeoff visible and defensible.

  • Own the product vision and roadmap for Product IQ and the internal customer-facing tools that follow it.
  • Set and defend priority, and keep the roadmap connected to business outcomes rather than to request volume.
  • Align Marketing, Sales, and Customer Experience around a shared definition of success for each release.
  • Govern what enters the roadmap so new tools arrive as managed products, not as one-off builds.

The organization runs one end-to-end model: the business brings strategy and need, the digital team defines what, why, and the KPI, digital and IT together decide how, and IT delivers. Your half of that is clarity, early and in writing.

  • Give product ownership the context, acceptance criteria, and priority needed to build the backlog.
  • Work with IT on feasibility, complexity, integration, and sequencing before commitments are made.
  • Review delivered outcomes against intent, and use Jira and Workfront as the system of record.

Launch is the beginning of the work. You own the instrumentation, the reporting, and the follow-through that turns a shipped tool into a performing one.

  • Define KPIs for each product and ensure the analytics needed to measure them exist before launch.
  • Monitor adoption, task completion, and downstream impact on product confidence and conversion.
  • Run a continuous optimization cycle, feeding findings back into the roadmap on a regular cadence.

Product IQ is the immediate proof point for this way of working, and it is where you will spend most of your first year. It is an internal customer-facing tool that has never had a dedicated product owner, so the early work is equal parts inheritance and reset: understand what has been built and why, establish the baseline for how it performs today, and put a real roadmap and measurement framework around it.

Success here is what makes the case for extending the same discipline to the next internal tool. Treat it as a template as much as a product.

What You’ll Bring:

----------------------

  • Five or more years in digital product management or product ownership, with at least some time owning the what and the why rather than only the backlog.
  • Experience taking a digital tool from discovery through launch and into post-launch optimization.
  • Comfort working with internal users as customers, including the harder work of changing how they work.
  • Fluency in agile delivery, roadmap planning, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Practical analytics skill: defining KPIs, reading the data, and acting on what it says.
  • Familiarity with Jira, backlog refinement, user acceptance testing coordination, and stakeholder communication.
  • Strong user empathy and a habit of turning insight into product decisions.
  • Experience in building products, construction, or another business-to-business or business-to-business-to-consumer environment preferred.
  • Background with product configurators, guided selling, or sales enablement tools preferred.
  • Familiarity with Workfront, customer data platforms, or CRM ecosystems preferred.

What You’ll Receive:

------------------------

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay scale for this position is $106,700K to $133,400K. Placement in the range depends on several factors such as experience, skills, geography and internal equity and may change over time. This position qualifies for benefits and you will be eligible to participate in a bonus plan.

At James Hardie, we recognize that our success depends on our people. We've worked hard to build a generous and competitive benefits program that demonstrates our commitment to our employees.
