Location: Remote
Employment Type: Contract / Contract-to-Hire

About the Opportunity
=========================
Intertech is partnering with our client, an established organization offering e-commerce and online learning platforms, to hire a Quality Assurance Analyst or Engineer. This role reports to a Program Manager and works day-to-day alongside developers, system analysts, project managers, development team leads, and product owners to build quality into every stage of the delivery process, not just test at the end.
The position is open at the Analyst or Engineer level depending on experience. Engineer-level candidates will take on greater ownership of test automation strategy, CI/CD integration, and coaching others on quality practices.
What You Will Be Doing
==========================
Plan: Test Strategy, Risk & Release Readiness
--------------------------------------------------
- Take part in sprint planning, backlog refinement, and design reviews to spot risks and testability gaps early
- Build risk-based test plans and clear acceptance criteria for new features, enhancements, and bug fixes
- Maintain traceability between requirements, test cases, and defects so new work doesn’t break what already works
- Report test results, quality metrics, and open risks, and give a clear go/no-go recommendation before each release
- Maintain stable test environments and reusable test data in partnership with development and infrastructure
Test: Manual & Exploratory Testing
---------------------------------------
- Run functional, regression, integration, cross-browser, and mobile-responsive testing across customer-facing websites and internal applications, going well beyond the “happy path” to find edge cases and error conditions
- Validate e-commerce flows end to end, including cart, checkout, payments, promotions, and order fulfillment
- Verify online learning platform features such as registration, course access, credit tracking, and certificates
Automate: Building & Maintaining Test Suites
-------------------------------------------------
- Design, build, and maintain automated UI and API tests using tools such as Cypress, Playwright, or Selenium
- Audit existing automation for coverage gaps, flaky tests, and outdated scenarios
- Integrate automated suites into CI/CD pipelines so every build gets fast, reliable feedback
- Use AI-assisted tools responsibly to speed up test creation and maintenance
- Partner with developers on unit and integration testing practices that catch issues earlier
Validate: APIs, Data & Integrations
----------------------------------------
- Test REST APIs and third-party integrations using tools such as Postman or Swagger
- Write SQL queries to confirm the data behind the UI is accurate and consistent
- Partner with vendors and internal teams to verify data syncs correctly between systems
- Confirm that what customers see matches what is stored, billed, and reported
Improve: Defects, Root Cause & Quality Culture
---------------------------------------------------
- Log clear, reproducible defects with steps, evidence, and severity, and track them to resolution
- Lead root-cause analysis on escaped and recurring defects and recommend process fixes
- Document test cases, procedures, and QA standards in tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira, and Confluence
- Coordinate testing with contract, offshore, or nearshore resources as needed
- Mentor developers and team members on testing practices and help build a culture where quality is everyone’s job
What You Bring
==================
Quality Assurance Experience
--------------------------------
- 3+ years of software QA experience testing web applications (Analyst level); 5+ years for Engineer level
- Hands-on experience with at least one test automation framework (Cypress, Playwright, Selenium, or WebdriverIO)
- Working knowledge of SQL for data validation (Microsoft SQL Server preferred)
- Experience testing REST APIs with tools such as Postman or Swagger
- Solid understanding of the software development life cycle, regression strategy, and defect life cycle
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience
Communication & Collaboration
----------------------------------
- Clear, direct written and verbal communication with both technical and non-technical audiences
- Ability to explain risk and test results so stakeholders can make good release decisions
- Experience working on Agile/Scrum teams with tools such as Azure DevOps or Jira
- A collaborative mindset: you see yourself as a partner to developers, not a gatekeeper at the end of the line
Curious, Detail-Driven Mindset
-----------------------------------
- Sharp attention to detail and the persistence to reproduce hard-to-find, intermittent defects
- Comfort working in fast-moving environments with evolving priorities and release schedules
- A love of learning new tools and a commitment to continuous improvement
Nice to Have
================
- Familiarity with C#, .NET Core, ASP.NET Core/MVC, React, and TypeScript, plus scripting skills in JavaScript/TypeScript, C#, or Python
- Experience integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins) and working in Microsoft Azure
- Experience testing e-commerce, payment processing, or learning management systems
- Familiarity with performance testing, accessibility standards (WCAG), or feature flags
- ISTQB certification
You’ll Thrive in This Role If You
=====================================
- Are creative, adaptable, collaborative, and energized by learning
- Ask thoughtful questions, seek advice, and stay open to feedback and debate
- Can say “I don’t know” when you don’t, and “here’s why I disagree” when you do
- Support ideas with data and use results to make better decisions
- Take initiative rather than waiting to be told what to do next
- Build strong working relationships instead of working as a lone wolf
