Title:
Lead Systems Architect – Robotic Manipulation Platforms
Duration:
12 months, with possibility of extension/conversion
Specialization:
Advanced Robotics / Autonomous Manipulation Systems
Context:
Supporting Amazon Robotics Subcontractor
Role Summary
We are looking for a
Systems Engineer
to serve as the overarching technical authority for next-generation robotic manipulation systems and automated sub-assemblies. In this capacity, you will architect complex platforms from the ground up—translating high-level operational goals into precise functional allocations across hardware, embedded controls, software, perception, and safety domains.
This role requires a technical lead who can balance formal systems engineering rigor with high-speed hardware iteration, driving critical trade-off analyses and establishing foundational architectural artifacts.
Core Responsibilities
- Architectural Ownership:
Blueprint the end-to-end architecture for robotic manipulation platforms, setting technical roadmaps and system-level functional allocations.
- Requirements & Artifact Management:
Author, decompose, and maintain core system deliverables, including System Requirements Documents (SRDs), Interface Control Documents (ICDs), ConOps, and V&V matrices.
- Multi-Domain Alignment:
Bridge technical gaps across hardware engineering, motion control, perception stacks, software, and functional safety teams.
- Trade Studies & Risk Mitigation:
Execute technical trade studies to balance system performance, cost, manufacturability, and long-term reliability while proactively identifying and mitigating architectural risks.
- Integration & Validation Strategy:
Formulate system integration roadmaps, verification testing protocols, and final acceptance criteria across complex electro-mechanical interfaces.
- Technical Governance & Mentorship:
Lead formal architecture/design reviews, establish systems engineering standards, and mentor cross-functional engineering teams.
Qualifications & Key Requirements
- Education:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Systems Engineering, Robotics, Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering.
- Domain Experience:
8+ years
of hands-on experience developing complex electro-mechanical, robotic, autonomous, aerospace, or automotive systems.
- Technical Systems Mastery:
Proven history defining platform architectures, executing trade studies, and authoring SRDs, ICDs, ConOps, and V&V plans.
- Agile Integration:
Track record of applying systems engineering discipline effectively within rapid, agile development cycles.
- Leadership & Autonomy:
Demonstrated capacity to drive complex engineering decisions independently and align cross-functional teams toward a unified architectural vision.
