About this role

Physical Therapist & Clinic Team

Lead

Integrated Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine | Ankeny, Iowa

Build Relationships. Lead Clinically. Help Grow Something Meaningful.

Are you a physical therapist who wants to make an impact beyond the treatment table?

Do you enjoy mentoring other clinicians, building relationships in your community, and helping a clinic reach its full potential? Are you someone who takes initiative, solves problems, and follows through without needing someone to look over your shoulder?

Integrated Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine is looking for a motivated, people-oriented Physical Therapist to serve as a Clinic Team Lead at our Ankeny clinic.

We are a locally owned, physical therapist-owned outpatient practice with a genuine commitment to putting people first. We believe exceptional care starts with strong relationships, excellent clinical skills, and a team that takes pride in doing things the right way.

This is an opportunity to combine hands-on patient care with clinical leadership, team mentorship, community networking, and clinic development. You’ll serve as a clinical resource for your teammates and a key point of contact for our Business Manager, helping identify opportunities, address challenges, and ensure your clinic has the support it needs to succeed.

Let’s be upfront

This isn’t a position where you’ll be handed a full schedule and expected to simply show up and treat. Building a successful clinic takes initiative. You’ll need to develop referral relationships, connect with community partners, represent the clinic professionally, and help create the demand that drives long-term success.

You’ll receive a salary rather than productivity-based pay. We value quality care, teamwork, and sustainable growth, not simply the number of visits you complete. In return, we’re looking for someone who is internally motivated, enjoys working with people, and is willing to put in the consistent effort it takes to build something meaningful.

If you want to help shape a clinic, support your teammates, and make a lasting difference in your community, we’d love to hear from you!

What We’re Looking For...

A Self-Starter Who Takes Ownership

  • You are internally motivated and take responsibility for your results without needing someone to push you.
  • You recognize opportunities, solve problems, and take action rather than waiting for someone else to make things happen.
  • You understand that building a successful clinic takes time, consistency, and effort.
  • You take pride in following through on commitments and doing what you say you’ll do.
  • You are comfortable working independently while remaining accountable to the team and organizational goals.

A Relationship Builder Who Enjoys Connecting with People

  • You genuinely enjoy people and know how to build trust with patients, colleagues, referral partners, and community members.
  • You are comfortable introducing yourself to new people, networking, and developing professional relationships.
  • You understand that growing a clinic requires more than providing excellent care. It also requires visibility, communication, and consistent community engagement.
  • You are willing to connect with physicians, healthcare providers, employers, athletic programs, and community organizations to build relationships and increase awareness of our services.
  • You communicate effectively, handle difficult conversations professionally, and understand that strong relationships are built through consistency and trust.

A Leader Who Helps Others Succeed

  • You enjoy mentoring other clinicians and helping teammates develop their clinical skills.
  • You lead by example and understand that your attitude, work ethic, and communication influence the entire team.
  • You can balance supporting others with reinforcing expectations and accountability.
  • You are comfortable identifying problems, communicating concerns, and helping develop practical solutions.
  • You want to contribute to a positive, collaborative environment where people feel valued and are encouraged to do their best work.

A Clinician Who Puts People First

  • You believe patients deserve individualized care, honest communication, and treatment plans based on their needs and goals.
  • You prioritize clinical excellence and meaningful patient outcomes over simply checking boxes.
  • You understand that doing the right thing for patients and building a successful business should work together, not against each other.
  • You value continued learning, professional growth, and finding better ways to serve patients.

Responsibilities...

Patient Care & Clinical Excellence

  • Evaluate patients and develop individualized plans of care based on their needs, goals, and clinical presentation.
  • Provide evidence-informed physical therapy services focused on meaningful patient outcomes.
  • Educate patients and families on treatment plans, exercises, and strategies to support continued progress.
  • Build strong therapeutic relationships through excellent communication, patient education, and consistent follow-through.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and comply with professional, regulatory, and organizational standards.

Clinical Leadership & Team Development

  • Serve as a clinical resource for teammates, offering guidance, sharing knowledge, and supporting sound clinical decision-making.
  • Mentor and support clinicians in their professional development, clinical skills, and delivery of patient-centered care.
  • Lead by example through strong clinical performance, professionalism, communication, and adherence to organizational values.
  • Help reinforce clinical expectations, established protocols, and best practices within the clinic.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and communicate concerns or support needs to the Business Manager.
  • Help foster a collaborative, accountable, and positive team environment.

Community Networking & Clinic Growth

  • Take an active role in building the clinic’s presence and reputation within the community.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with physicians, healthcare providers, employers, community organizations, athletic programs, and other potential referral partners.
  • Participate in networking, outreach, and community engagement activities to increase awareness of the clinic and its services.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen referral relationships, expand community connections, and grow the clinic’s patient base.
  • Deliver an excellent patient experience that encourages trust, retention, and positive word-of-mouth referrals.
  • Take initiative during gaps in the patient schedule by identifying productive ways to support clinic growth rather than simply waiting for patients to fill the schedule.

Clinic Communication & Operational

Support

  • Serve as a key point of contact for the Business Manager regarding clinic-level needs, concerns, opportunities, and team feedback.
  • Communicate emerging issues, resource needs, and potential barriers to clinic success in a timely manner.
  • Help implement organizational initiatives, clinical processes, and operational improvements at the clinic level.
  • Support consistent communication and collaboration among team members.
  • Work with the Business Manager to identify solutions and follow through on agreed-upon action items.
  • Help maintain a professional, welcoming, and efficient clinic environment.

The Clinic Team

Lead provides clinical leadership and supports clinic development. Overall provider management, performance management, and business operations remain the responsibility of the Business Manager.

Our Core Values...

Our values aren’t just words on a wall. They guide how we care for patients, work together, and make decisions.

People First Always

We treat patients, teammates, and community partners with respect, compassion, and genuine care. We recognize that relationships are at the heart of everything we do.

Excellence Drives Growth

We strive to deliver exceptional care, continuously improve, and take pride in our work. We believe growth follows when we consistently do things well.

Systematic Approach

We believe strong results come from intentional processes, clear expectations, and consistent follow-through. We solve problems thoughtfully rather than relying on quick fixes.

Professionally Unprofessional

We take our work seriously without taking ourselves too seriously. We value authenticity, humor, collaboration, and a workplace where people can be themselves while maintaining professionalism and accountability.

We are looking for someone whose actions reflect these values, who enjoys being part of a team, and who understands that a great workplace requires both strong relationships and personal accountability.

Qualifications...

  • Active Iowa Physical Therapist license in good standing.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Demonstrated initiative, dependability, and a track record of following through on commitments.
  • Comfort with networking, community outreach, and developing professional referral relationships.
  • Interest in mentoring teammates and contributing to a positive team culture.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently without constant direction.
  • Willingness to balance clinical care with leadership, outreach, and clinic-development responsibilities.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with patients, colleagues, referral partners, and organizational leadership.

Previous leadership experience is a plus, but we are equally interested in a clinician who demonstrates leadership potential, takes ownership, and has the drive to build something meaningful.

What We Offer...

  • Competitive salaried compensation.
  • 401(k) with employer matching.
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Life and disability insurance.
  • Paid time off.
  • Continuing education opportunities.
  • Professional development and advancement opportunities.
  • The opportunity to help develop a clinic and shape its culture.
  • A supportive, locally owned practice that values clinical excellence, teamwork, and patient-centered care.
  • Autonomy to take initiative, solve problems, and contribute meaningfully to clinic success, with the support and accountability of organizational leadership.
