Position Title: IT Project Manager
Location: Topeka, KS
Position Type: Remote (Contract)
Interview Process: Video Only
Key Responsibilities
Project Approval & Prioritization
- Consult with agency staff on the development and prioritization of new projects.
- Support the agency’s Project Management Portfolio process through analysis, presentations, and reporting.
- Complete Planned Project Templates for reportable projects.
Project Planning
- Develop and assist with project plans, schedules, communication plans, quality plans, deliverable definitions, budgets, and management procedures.
- Implement project management tools such as MS Project and SharePoint for tracking, reporting, and collaboration.
- Develop high-level and detailed planning documentation for reportable projects.
- Coordinate and develop Federal Planning and Implementation Advanced Planning Documents (APDs).
- Review project plans for compliance with architecture, standards, policies, and agency guidelines.
- Provide IT project oversight to agency stakeholders and leadership.
Project Execution & Monitoring
- Manage project plans and coordinate activities of internal and contracted project team members.
- Track project progress against timelines, budgets, milestones, and deliverables.
- Maintain project tracking, reporting, and collaboration tools.
- Identify, document, and facilitate resolution of project issues, risks, and deficiencies.
- Communicate project status and progress to agency stakeholders and leadership.
- Prepare and deliver project presentations and briefings.
- Coordinate reporting for designated/reportable projects.
- Conduct lessons-learned sessions and prepare project closeout documentation.
PMO & General
Support
- Support the Project Management Office (PMO) with portfolio management, reporting, agency liaison activities, and project management tools.
- Assist Project Analysts and other Project Managers as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Education
- High school diploma or GED.
Preferred Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience in IT-related project management.
- PMP certification from the Project Management Institute (PMI) or demonstrated experience with a recognized/traditional IT project management methodology.
- Experience with project planning, scheduling, budgeting, risk and issue management, stakeholder communication, and project reporting.
- Experience with MS Project and SharePoint is preferred.
Pay: $40.00 - $45.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
Education:
- High school or equivalent (Required)
License/Certification:
- PMP (Required)
